Note from Dr. Marcus...

To sunscreen or not to sunscreen.....that is the question. Exposure to the sun has been scrutinized over the last 10 years or so.

Many started lathering on the sunscreen in order to protect their skin, only to develop some form of melanoma (skin cancer) later on down the road.

Also think of the numerous reports on the importance of getting enough Vitamin D, which is activated by the sun. So what are we to do?

If you are going to use a sunscreen, read the label. Find out what exactly you are putting on your skin. You may be shocked!

Insect Reliefevents

Instead of focusing on just one herb this month, we thought that you might be interested in a mosquito and bug repellent that you can make using essential oils!

Bug-off Spray

5 drops of Eucalyptus essential oil

2 drops of Geranium essential oil

8 drops of Lemon essential oil

2 drops of Peppermint essential oil

¼ to ½ teaspoon massage oil (or olive oil)

1.5 oz distilled water

Combine all of the ingredients in a 2 oz spray bottle and shake to blend. Spray on exposed areas of skin and reapply every 2 hours. Not recommended for use during long times of exposure to direct sun.

For a natural yard repellent, visit Mosquito Barrier. This garlic based spray has been tried and tested by our family. We think that it has made a difference, benefiting both the humans and dogs in our homes!
