Everyday Health
A Thought from Dr. Marcus

mainarticle

Digestive problems cost Americans $50 billion each year in both direct costs and absences from work. I once read that the road to good health is paved with good intestines!

One of the best ways to benefit your digestive system is to just drink plain water. To figure out how much water your body requires daily, take your body weight and divide it by two (example: and 150 pound person should have 75 oz of water a day).

Adjustments to the lumbar and spine can also help to relax the digestive system and allow waste to be eliminated as the body was designed. When your digestive system is functioning properly if also helps your immune system perform!

Want to learn more to live better? Learn more about the digestive system at our health talk tomorrow called The Brilliant Body. We hope to see you!

In good health,
Dr. Marcus Kampfe

herb Herb of the Month: Rosemary
rosemary
Latin name: Rosemarinusofficinalis

Rosemary has proven to be a proficient healer of all sorts. This aromatic herb can be traced back to the Middle Ages when it was used to clear vision and as a memory aid. During World War II Rosemary was used in hospitals to kill germs and in ancient Greece to strengthen energy.

Rosemary tea has also been known to be helpful in alleviating tension headaches because it stimulates blood flow to the cells and calms the nervous system. This herb is useful in treating colds, sore throats, upset stomachs, colic and digestive issues as well. It is even a good mouthwash that helps the gums and halitosis. (See August Everyday Health for recipe!)

Often, Rosemary Tea is added to shampoo to help retain hair color and is reported to prevent premature balding.

To try this, add a strong cupful of rosemary tea to your shampoo and wash as normal.

Rosemary has been known to strengthen the eyes, and can be used in an eyewash, especially when combined with comfreyin the case of allergic reactions or eye infections.

Additional benefits to rosemary are that it strengthens the heart, increases circulation and reduces high blood pressure.

Rosemary is easy to grow and can be effortlessly added to your diet since it can be used to cook with or simply sipped as a tea.

Try adding Rosemary to your day as a way to relieve stress and tension!!
