Tips to Avoid Overeating this Holiday Season!
chiropracticmonth
It is that time of year again when we find ourselves eating too much, and then wondering why our pants fit "differently".

According to CNN, the average American gains 5 to 7 pounds each fall and may never lose the weight! Instead of overindulging this holiday season, we would like to suggest a few helpful tips!

1. Analyze your emotions before you eat. Try not to eat to fill a void.
2. Exercise- Not just a walk outside but something that gets your heart pumping and helps reduce stress levels.
4. Portion Control! Did you know that potion size on those mashed potatoes is ˝ a cup?! General rule of thumb- if you portion is larger than your fist, it is too big!
3. Make sure to eat your greens! Eat salad and other raw veggies. Green bean casserole is okay, but should not be the ONLY green for the day!
4. Save the calories and pass on the items you eat frequently. In other words, skip the bread and appetizers to eat things you don't normally eat. Yes, you can have the good stuff but remember portion control and be choosy.
5. Drink water! Most of us are not drinking enough and it is a good "filler". Drink half your body weight (in ounces) or 8 oz for each hour that you are awake. Ex: A person weighing 120 lbs. should drink 60 oz daily.
6. Take food enzymes with your meals. Eighty percent of taking care of your immune system is good digestion. Food enzymes help break down protein, carbohydrates and fats as well as helping in preventing and relieving indigestion.

As part of our annual tradition, Dunn Wellness Center and Nancy Dance will host the 2009 Sing-a-Long at Pablo Towers Senior Center! Each year these two beach businesses partner to provide the seniors at Pablo Towers with a fun Christmas memory and event to remember!

Each senior attendee is provided dessert and a gift (valued at $15 or less).  We are asking for help collecting gifts! You can do this by either bringing in a gift yourself, or by asking local businesses (or your own company) if they would be willing to donate something that would make a senior light up!

operationStill Time to Fill Shoe Boxes for Operation Christmas Child!

There is still time to help with Operation Christmas Child!

Dunn Wellness Center has joined with Operation Christmas Child to provide less fortunate children around the world with a special package found inside of shoe boxes.

Dunn Wellness Center, with the help of our patients, would like to pack at least 50 shoe boxes and send them overseas! We are asking that you would consider filling a shoe box with a few items. These items may include: pens, markers, small cars, dolls, SlinkyŽ, socks, hard candy, watches, jewelry, etc. In the office there is a list of gift suggestions in a brochure that provides additional gift ideas. All items must be able to fit in a shoe box that is labeled for either a boy or a girl and marked for the appropriate age: 2-4 yrs, 5-9 yrs, 10-14 yrs.

A donation of $7 or more will help cover the shipping of these packages overseas. Include your picture and address and you may receive a note back from a child that you blessed!

We are collecting until the second week in December! If you are unable to fill a shoebox but would like to bring in a few items, please place them in the basket marked "Operation Christmas Child" located in the front lobby. Our staff will add these items to create additional boxes.

If you have any additional questions, please e-mail info@dunnwellness.com. Thank you for taking the time to help those in need!
