Peninsula Players Theatre has set its fall schedule of topics for the Saturday Seminar Series. Company members will present inside perspectives on the Players season and other theatrical topics. This free series of seminars, which require advance reservations, will be presented in the Players Rehearsal Hall from 2:30 - 4 p.m. Saturdays through Oct. 17.
Architect Scott Georgeson will discuss the building of new theaters Saturday, Sept. 19. Georgeson will talk about the process he has gone through with Peninsula Players and other companies in planning new theater spaces, after which attendees will take a tour of the facilities. Georgeson is an award-winning architect with more than 20 years of experience designing theaters and performing arts centers throughout North America.
Players costume designers Kärin Kopischke and Samantha Jones will discuss costume design Sept. 26. Kopischke has designed dozens of shows for the Players and will have just finished a production at Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago. Jones designed three shows for the Players this season, including the current production of "Around the World in 80 Days." The two will discuss approaches to costume design, costume careers and costume quick-changes.
Veteran Players actor and trained clown Kevin McKillip will lead a seminar on playing comedy Oct. 3. McKillip, featured in four productions this season, plays fearless adventurer Phileas Fogg in the Players current production of "Around the World in 80 Days."
Long-time Players actor/director Joe Foust will lead his colleagues in a Shakespeare seminar Oct. 10, drawing on the classical experience of the Players company. Foust directed this year's thriller "Wait Until Dark" and plays multiple roles in "Around the World in 80 Days."
The final seminar of the season will be "Expect the Unexpected," a humorous look at how surprises are handled in the theater, presented Oct. 17. Company members will share favorite stories of missed cues, visiting critters, flying wigs, phones that don't ring and other mishaps that actors either conceal or incorporate.
Seminars are free to the public, but reservations are advised. To reserve a spot call the box office at 920-868-3287. Space is limited to 50 people for each event.
