CHAIR'S COLUMN FOR MARCH 2012
Vivian Auslander

Hi, All!

I've only been at this for a few months, now, but I'm delightedVivian.Chair and grateful for the tremendous alacrity our board and members have shown in jumping in to get things done! Need to find a speaker? People not only have ideas, they volunteer to call! Need information about logistics for our Silent Auction? Someone has a suggestion and is happy to check. Need a substitute to take notes at a meeting? Of course, folks say. Or a person to step in when circumstances change? Presto, a volunteer! You know who you are! Thank you!

I see this wonderful dynamic at work every week. No wonder we're the longest running PR organization in the business! Great folks, great ideas! Great momentum!

And speaking of momentum, thanks to everyone who re-upped for 2012. Our Membership Committee will be in touch with the few folks we haven't heard from to be sure you haven't forgotten.

March is our Bring a Prospective Member meeting, so I'm betting we'll see our ranks grow in the months ahead. I look forward to meeting your guests on March 27 and hearing from Russ Yarrow, general manager for Corporate Affairs at ChevronCorporation, who will tell us how Chevron has successfully sustained its long-running corporate outreach campaign.

Our Scholarship Committee has been interviewing candidates and has selected some outstanding winners. I hear the choice was particularly hard this year, because the graduate students who applied were superb. We will have a chance to meet the winners at our April 24 meeting, when we present their awards.

The April meeting will be doubly exciting, because we will hear from Wade Roush, chief correspondent and San Francisco editor at Xconomy.

May 22 will bring us Curt Kundred, president of Edelman's west coast region, discussing Edelman's 12th annual Trust Barometer.

On June 26, we will fine-tune our antennae for the electoral season by hearing from pollster Ben Tulchin of Tulchin Research.   Mark those terrific Tuesdays now!

Thanks in advance!

Editor's Update

In January I accepted a position with the Alameda Alliance for Health, as
Jill.Ms.Dior
...and Dior Eye Glass Model
their Content Manager/Copywriter. As I recently said, "After having worked at federal, state and local levels to help make better laws and better lives for Americans, it's fascinating and heartening to now be in a position to help a great group of folks make better health care a reality for Alameda County families."

In addition, my other commitments to our local communities remain strong. According to my LinkedIn profile, my current board memberships for San Francisco nonprofits are:

San Francisco (Bay Area) Public Relations Round Table (e-Program Invitations and Monthly E-Newsletters)

Community Health Resource Center, at (CPMC) California Pacific Medical Center/Sutter Health (Strategic Plan & Marketing Committees)

Community Living Campaign, San Francisco - NOTE: COMMUNITY LIVING CAMPAIGN is helping organize the 2012 Aging and Disability Technology Summit at San Francisco City Hall

If any PRRT colleagues are looking for their own new and tremendous communty involvement experiences - whatever that means for them - I'm happy to discuss.
