Buds Break in the Vineyard
Hope returns each spring as baby leaves begin to open and the vintage of '09 is born. So much follows in the next active six months. Everything impacts the crop from sun and rain, to wind, drought, pests, people and tractors. Somehow the vines survive, old and young just like people, making do with what they have. They get alot of help from vinedressers who prune, and cultivate to keep weeds down, then spray to keep pests away. Then the vines can leave their bunches as thanks and reward. Then you may enjoy wine, blood of the grape as food on your table, a part of your meal. Thanks to all in the crew that gives each vine its chance to show what it can do. Thank you to Linda, Istvan, Mike, Eric, Debbie, Ralph, Shannon, Ted, Ernest, George, and Culetta who got the job done starting only in March because of the cold winter. And thanks to all the customers who braved the 150" of snow this winter. Your constant support keeps the Vineyard alive.
Lake Erie wineries have begun work with AppellationAmerica to help identify the unique qualities in the primary wine varieties. More later. All four puppies look healthy and happy at ten weeks old.
With the very best wishes for Mothers Day and May. . . .
Cheers,
