Celebrating  40 Springs
Bud Break 2008 Chard
The  Markko Vineyard  partnership  of  Tim Hubbard and Arnie Esterer began  forty years ago.   The dream then would not have survived  and grown without Tim Hubbard .  The work with Dr Frank  and Tim's  patience made possible the learning steps necessary to adapt the cultural practice to Lake  Erie's south shore .  Sometimes progress seemed slow but the vision became reality.  Thanks to all of you for your interest, support  and to the industry that shared knowledge, workers and equipment .

Spring brings Eternal Hope
Warmth,  sun and rain brings leaves and  new life. Each vintage begins anew and all things done now have an impact on the grapes of 2008.  Man has NO control over the "Terrior" but he can change and loose the character which come from the soil and climate .  Winemakers are not all powerful they can loose the good qualities (or change many) which come with the grapes at harvest.  Oh!  the mysteries of wine ,  Dr Frank talked the about 'Chateau Mysteries ' of wine from France.  (At times they added Algerian grapes which were sweeter and lower acid making a Bordearu-Algerian blend). If all you want is good wine,  buy what you like, but you may loose the  regional qualities  'Terrior". Keep the faith and find the true characteristic of Lake Erie  wines.  Some day Lake Erie wines will have true "Terrior" recognition world wide. Thanks again for all you comments and support,  0h please,  keep them coming. Thank you -
Cheers
