Greetings!

It is so hard to believe that we can already see the light at the end of this semester! It has certainly been an extremely busy around here and with all that I hear about what you are doing, it has been extremely busy on your campus and in you Churches as well!

Let me share some highlights of this fall so far:
  • Glorieta-We had an outstanding Collegiate Week at Glorieta in August! We had 2008 folks register for this event. We were not able to keep very good records of all the decisions that were made, but we know that at least 20 students prayed to receive Christ, 27 recommitted their lives, 39 indicated a call to full-time ministry and 77 felt the call to missions!
  • Canadian Collegiate Church Planting-I spent a week in Canada with Collegiate Church Plants visiting campuses in Toronto and Vancouver. God is doing some wonderful things in reaching students through Collegiate Church Planting. We all need to be open to the way God is using this unique ministry to reach lost students! I am learning first hand all that I can so I can all of us in the Collegiate Ministry family stay connected and supportive of one another.
  • BCNet Meeting-The BCNet meet at NOBTS this year and did some of the best work that I believe they have ever done. You will be hearing more about this in days to come, but if you want to read more now, go to www.bcmlife.net and look under each committee for details. They may not all be updated just yet, but they will be soon. We also added an additional committee, Church Planting Committee. This committee is going to help us work with both Church Plants and Collegiate Church plants.
  • Glorieta Planning Committee-I have just finished meeting with the Glorieta Planning committee and we have some really exciting things planned for this upcoming summer! Our speakers are J.D. Greer and Ben Stewart. I hope you are already making your plans to attend! By the way until something changes, we are going to continue to have Collegiate Week at Glorieta. We will definitely be at Glorieta in 2012!
Now, let me share some info with you on a number of important topics:
  • Soularium-Our BCNet Evangelism Committee suggested that we use the witnessing tool Soularium, and I have included in this newsletter a recent Testimony that was sent to me by one of our State Directors. Soularium is an outstanding tool for you to considering using on your campus. If you would like to have a copy of this resource, contact Brian Frye at bfrye@scbo.org. He can mail you as many copies of this tool for $5.00 a piece.
  • Collegiate Workers Summit-The Collegiate Workers Summit is scheduled for May 2-4, 2012 at the LifeWay building in Nashville. If you register by Jan. 31st the cost is $120.00 and after Jan. 31st the cost is $150.00. I hope you are planning to attend; it will be an outstanding meeting! For more info go to this link.

Reaching Freshmen Later In The Fall Semester

Two of the best BCM presidents we have had during my 20 years at LSU didn't become involved in our ministry until January of their freshman year. Both of them went on a BCM ski trip and meet and connected with our students and staff. They both stayed very involved in our ministry and became presidents during their senior years.

Here are some suggestions on ways you can involve freshmen in your ministry at the end of the fall semester or at the beginning of the spring semester.  (MORE)
