Area gardeners may donate extra produce from their gardens to local food banks. Arlington's Food Assistance Center, AFAC, helps feed 1,200 families who come each week for supplemental groceries. Fresh produce helps enrich these families' diets.

The idea of 'Planting a Row for the Hungry' began in 1995 and has inspired numerous home gardeners, community gardeners and farmers to grow produce for their less fortunate neighbors.
