We Saw It on the Internet!

Do you need extra help justifying good cataloging? A recent study done on students in five Illinois universities found that many college students don't know to even perform a simple internet search.

"Researchers with the Ethnographic Research in Illinois Academic Libraries project watched 30 students at Illinois Wesleyan University try to search for different topics online and found that only seven of them were able to conduct 'what a librarian might consider a reasonably well-executed search.'"

This is a great article to help justify the need for good cataloging and an authoritative place for well-researched resources. As one student in the article says, "'I have no idea [how Google determines search results].  I'm just trusting Google to know what are the good resources.'"  With a robust catalog and authoritative resources, your users will never have to worry about the authenticity of their materials.

WestlawNext Records

Now's your chance to be part of our WestlawNext Pioneer Program!

You may remember our first Pioneer Program back in 2006 when we were able to offer 2,000 records of Westlaw and Lexis e-treatise titles for only $2,000.  That collection has grown exponentially in the years since 2006 and those pioneer libraries who purchased the records at their debut ended up with an unbelievable deal, paying only a fraction of their full value!

Get in on the ground floor and receive the first 4,000 WestlawNext records for only $2,000 - a mere $.50 per record!  This Pioneer Pricing will only be available for a limited time, so order now!

We want to help you make the most of your investment!

WestlawNext, the winner of the AALL 2011 New Product of the Year award, is an innovative, technologically advanced product which is taking legal research to a new level.  In creating this product, we have discovered a rearrangement of content, title changes and new titles added.  We have also noticed a few instances of content access restriction.  An example of this restriction is the title "International Business Transactions" (Westlaw Database Identifier INTBUSTRAN).  This title was previously available to all academic subscribers, but is now available only to those using WestlawNext.
