This month we would like to share "Cool, Non-Literary Uses for Books" from the people at Neatorama.

From clothes to jewelry to furniture - there are some great ideas on here in case you have an abundance of books, some creativity and lots of time on your hands!!

We have had many inquiries regarding our plan for conversion to RDA and our president, Joni Cassidy, would like to make a brief statement announcing our plans at the current time.  Our plan is subject to change and much is contingent upon announcements made by the Library of Congress at the American Library Association annual meeting at the end of June 2011.

In April 2011, Joni Cassidy spoke at NOCALL Spring Institute in San Francisco on RDA (further information may be found here).  We have been keeping up with what is required cataloging-wise and are awaiting the release of Library of Congress's final report on what part of RDA should be accepted.

After the release of the LC final report, we will follow the recommendation of the National Bibliographic community and act accordingly with an eye on the timelines for implementation set forth by LC, SkyRiver, OCLC, and the major software vendors such as Innovative Interfaces and SirsiDynix.
