CEO Corner
As you may recall, 2011 started out with record breaking cold temperatures and snowfall. The spring was violent with several tornados and then quickly followed by summer with record breaking heat and drought. As we all awaited the fall season we encountered the strongest earthquake ever recorded in Oklahoma history and several aftershocks and tremors have been felt ever since. Life is like the weather - it's unpredictable and you never know when you may experience something that is considered record breaking to you. The member agencies of the Bartlesville Regional United Way provide hope every day in the lives of children for after-school programs, families who have experienced the tragedy of a house fire, day care to senior citizens, counseling to people who need mental and emotional support and to those families who need a meal, food, clothing, or financial assistance to maintain their household. If you have already contributed or pledged toward this year's campaign, I say THANK YOU for your generosity and support. If you have not made your contribution or pledge, please consider your gift today and join with us to make this another record breaking year for United Way as we continue to Plant Seeds of Hope! - Michael Cole, CEO and Executive Director |

Day of Caring volunteers at Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma
|
|
| Our 2011 Day Of Caring took place on September 20th and began with a kickoff breakfast at the Mary Martha Outreach Garden. Agency directors, board members and the local community were all invited. Five organizations participated in this year's Day of Caring: ConocoPhillips, Arvest Bank, Siemens, Zachry and Tri-County Technology Center. Between the five companies, there were 1,334 volunteers who totaled 5,731 hours of volunteering. There were 137 projects completed between the 42 organizations helped. We ended the Day of Caring downtown at Frank & Lola's along with Young Professionals of Bartlesville as we thanked all those involved and celebrated another successful Day of Caring.
The Day of Caring could not have happened without the diligent work of many people. We would like to thank Rand and Patti Berney for serving as Campaign Fund Drive Chairs, Jim and Susan Dick as Pacesetter Chairs, Carmen Stanton and Kelly Gilliland as CEO Chairs, Charlie and Corky Bowerman as Special Gifts Chairs, and Lisa Lytle serving as Promotions Chair. We would also like to recognize and thank our campaign CEOs: Kelly Gilliland, Carmen Stanton, Jamye Ryan, Jay Dyer, Tami Brinkman, Rhonda Davis, Cindy Miller, Jackie Bunce, and Lori Roll.

YPB & BRUW Volleyball Tournament
|
We held our annual Young Professionals of Bartlesville and United Way Volleyball Tournament on October 13th at the Sooner Park courts. We were fortunate to play in great weather and to pass last year's registration with more than a dozen teams playing, this was largely due to starting the tournament at 4:30 on a Thursday night instead of closer to noon in past years. We would like to thank both YPB and our Volleyball Chair, Heather Robison for their planning and work on this year's tournament.
Our sponsors included Susan Dick Financial Services, LLC, Stotts Barclay Pettus Whipple Littleton & Reuf P.C., Young Professionals of Bartlesville, Arvest, Bank of Oklahoma and McCoy Jewlers.

We would also like to thank the Future Farmers of America students from Dewey, OK who operated each station and helped make the tournament run smoothly.
