YPB and Elder Care Help Area Residents Stay Cool
Bartlesville, Okla., July 7/Elder Care/ - With temperatures starting to climb, Oklahoma residents are preparing to stay cool for the summer. Sometimes, this task may prove to be difficult. Elder Care and Young Professionals of Bartlesville are teaming up for the 6th Annual Cool Room Project to help ensure area older adults stay cool in the summer heat.
The fundraiser will be held at Hillcrest Country Club on July 14 at 5:30 p.m. in coordination with YPB's monthly social meeting. Attendance is open to the public, and participants are encouraged to give a suggested donation of $5 in support of the campaign.
"Young Professionals look forward to the Cool Room Project event each year," said Champagne Kane, YPB social events chair. "It is one of our flagship events and is always well attended. We love being able to help out the community, this is a fun way to get involved and make an impact."
The goal of the project is to be able to provide a 110-watt window unit for one room in the home of seniors in our community who need a little extra help. The purpose is to help them experience relief from the oppressive heat and remain healthy during the summer with a properly air-conditioned room.
"Last year we were able to raise over $1,500," said Lori Florence, community relations coordinator for Elder Care. "Our goal this year is to exceed last year and reach $2,000. This will allow us to purchase more window units to make them readily available for those in need. We hope to see diverse supporters from the community represented at this fundraiser to support the cause of keeping seniors healthy at home."
