 Children PrayingGreetings!

Spring has arrived at all our mission sites.  The new school year is just under way in Honduras.  Our students in The Dominican Republic and Liberia are past the half way point in their school year.  Of course regardless of the season Father Emil Cook never slows down.  Planning is underway to expand our presence in all three countries.  Please take a few minutes to read about what is happening at the missions.  When you are done reading, please forward this email to your family and friends.

Help Wanted!
Ordinary people can do extraordinary things.  Are you one of them?  Mission Honduras needs your help in a number of areas.

Sponsors, Let's Hear from You

Do you sponsor a child in one of our programs?  Have you got a story to share about this experience?  Long or short, we'd love to hear what you have to say and post a few of our sponsors' comments in our publications.  If you would like to contribute, please email Barbara Pawlikowski

YouTube is Everywhere
Our newest video
is now available for viewing on YouTube.  Take a look at this exciting story of how three Honduran brothers are changing the world in Honduras, Liberia, and The Dominican Republic.

More YouTube
The youth group of the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville, TN posted photos from their eight-day trip to the mission last summer.  From the looks of it, the students had a very meaningful and fun experience.  Have a look for yourself

Did You Know
Mission Honduras International produces around 5,000 Lbs of high quality coffee each year.  Because of import restrictions the coffee can only be purchased in Honduras and then brought back to the U.S.  Our coffee is sold at the Visitor Center.  If you know a visitor going to Honduras ask them to pick up a couple of pounds for you.

Fun in HondurasLong-Term Volunteers
We need a dedicated person or persons to help run the Visitor's Center in Honduras for about 13 months from July of 2008 through August of 2009.  This person will help coordinate the various volunteer groups that come to the mission throughout the year.  Ample training and assistance will be provided by a current volunteer-in-residence.  If you can devote all, or even several months to this task, we will guarantee a life-changing experience.  To find out more, please email Joanie Fabiano

Fun in HondurasU.S. Volunteer Coordinator
We are seeking a stateside volunteer to work with staff and coordinate responses to inquiries and scheduling for the volunteer program.  Each year, 30-40 groups and a similar number of individuals make the trip to Honduras for short-term project work or longer-term missionary assignments.  The U.S. Volunteer Coordinator answers their questions about missionary service either on the phone or via email and keeps a schedule to assure sufficient space in the visitor house in Honduras.  The coordinator works closely with the Executive Director and the House Manager in Honduras.

Here is a chance to get to know generous people from around the U.S. and use your ideas to further develop a program that provides tremendous help to Mission Honduras International.

Training and ongoing support provided during initial months of work until the new coordinator is comfortable in the position. For more information contact Joanie Fabiano

Students Using PCLaptops and Digital Cameras
Also on our needs list are about 20 laptop computers (new or used) with at lease one megahertz cpu and 256 meg of memory.  (Battery operation is a plus.)  Maybe you know of a company that is upgrading their computer system and would be able to support our worthy programs with a donation.  In addition, we could really use four digital cameras that utilize AA batteries.  If you are able to help, please contact Bob O'Dwyer for shipping information
We Need Dental Help!Dentists, Dental Technician and Dental Supplies
We have been blessed with the donation of much needed dental equipment to serve our families in Honduras.  We plan to run a dental clinic from October 31-November 17.  But we still need a qualified dental equipment representative to help finish assembling the equipment on site.  Assembly can be done at almost anytime before the clinic if need be.  Due to the overwhelming call for dental care, we would also like to bring an additional dentist with us.  Finally, we ask you to assist us in obtaining auxiliary dental tools and drills through either direct or cash donations.  If you can help in any of these areas please email Joanie Fabiano
Fr. Emil on EWTN LiveTelevision Interview
On  February 20th Father Emil appeared on the Catholic cable television network show, EWTN Live.  Father Emil's interview generated a lot of interest in Mission Honduras International.  We have received inquires and donations from many new supporters including at least four different counties.

Liberia ChildrenNews from Liberia
Liberia Mission is growing fast; in four short years we have more than tripled the number of children we serve.  Mission directors Jose Martinez and Angel Rodriguez are beginning the construction of a girls' residence building to help house our burgeoning enrollment. The new building will have five dorm rooms with six beds in each.  There will be indoor plumbing, a sewing room/classroom, dining room, kitchen and storage room.  We are hoping to get donations to help with the cost of installing bookshelves in the library.  The shelves will cost $500 a unit for a total of about $6,000. Anyone sponsoring the cost of a unit will have his or her name engraved on the bookshelf.  The total cost of the new building is anticipated to be $68,000.  For more information, please contact Joanie Fabiano.  If you would like to make a donation, CLick Here.
