Greetings!

The container has landed!  The container has landed!
Container for Liberia being loaded in Chicago 23,000 Pounds of Love
Hector Lanza and Norman Portillo called me and said "The container has arrived into the Liberia Mission compound!"  The container, with 23,000 pounds of food, medicine, and supplies, was shipped from Chicago in August.  They have begun to unload it box by box. They are amazed at how many boxes are in it. They are also checking to see that the boxes on our list are in the container. They think it looks like everything has arrived safely.

Hector says to tell all the supporters who donated, that he, Norman, Omar, the staff, and the children say a Big Thanks for the matching donations earlier this year. They also thank all the volunteers and donors who worked on the container. They are very happy for all the supplies that were sent and for the food!
Liberia Chapel The Church is Almost Ready
The church at Liberia Mission is 95% complete and will be 100% complete very soon.  They are going to have a celebration Mass with Monsignor Karney and Monsignor Topolah.  Some of the village people have come and are interested in attending church.  They will have a priest every Sunday to say Mass for the children, staff, and villagers in the new church.  When the diocese can make arrangements for a rectory, the Apostolic Administrator promises us a resident priest.

Hector and Norman meet with Liberians More News
Hector and Norman have requested some funds to buy some additional land (about 500 acres), about seven hours inland from the current location. It is good land for growing a crop of rubber trees. The plan is to buy land, set up a house there for staff (one wing of a quad plan), and plant rubber trees (x number of acres per year until they cover the 500 acres). Meanwhile, they would also build a school and children's residence (the other three wings of the quad plan), and take in needy children and get them an education.  This will take about five years. But the land purchase, initial small acreage planting, and staff residence will be earlier in the five-year plan with a school and other residence wings as things go along.

We are putting in water wells to help two nearby poor villages where some of our children are from.

There are now 67 resident children at Liberia Mission. There are a total of 132 children in the school.
Hector and Norman
Hector Lanza and Norman Portillo are from Honduras and volunteered to operate Liberia Mission for the past two years. Both men received their education and college degrees through Mission Honduras' educational system. Hector has known Father Emil for over 30 years. His wife and family are in Honduras. Hector and Norman have done a fantastic job of operating Liberia Mission and overseeing construction and operation of the children's residence, St. Anthony of Padua School, St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church, the planting of acres of cassava crop, and the expansion of the number of children served at the residence and school. They will both be returning to Honduras shortly.  Omar Martinez and Alexis Lopez, also from Honduras, will take over the operations in Liberia.  Please join us in thanking Hector and Norman for their unbelievably dedicated efforts.

Once again, thank you for your concern and support, and most of all, for your prayers.

May God Bless You.
