Wait! Don't Buy, Rent!
Toyota Forklift The traditional way to acquire the use of a forklift is to buy one.  Others have found leasing more beneficial.  But what about renting?

There are many advantages to renting some or all of your fleet.  The flexibility is second to none.  If you have a decrease in demand, send a few lifts back.  Have a busy period? Order up a few more.  The question of maintenance is also answered.  The dealer is responsible for tires, seats, starters and other wear items.  Let your people on the dock or in the warehouse make the call to the dealer.  These repairs are covered.  There is no justifying, tracking, or budgeting for the unknown.

By having a portion of your fleet rentals, the ups and downs of an uncertain economy can be managed with some sense of direction.  While it may be a little more expensive than a lease payment, a well negotiated rental is cost effective.  Remember to consider opportunity costs, insurance, maintenance, and management during the justification.  Contact us today to explore forklift fleet renting.

More on Rentals From Warehouse IQ.
Forklift Rental We've found an excellent source of warehousing and material handling information through Warehouse IQ. Recently they published an article about rental forklift that included a reference to a post of ours. We'd like to share their article here:

Positive news of job growth and an expanding economy has caused materials handling equipment sales to rise also.  With an increase of up to 50% higher unit sales in some categories of lift trucks in some Man driving a rental forklift in a warehouse storing pallets areas of the United States, pressure on Rental forklift fleets is increasing.

Renting a Forklift

Chances are, like many companies out there, you have been getting by with the lift trucks you had from before the start of the recession.  But now, you are seeing a pick up in retail sales and increased shipping volume.  So you have put in a request for the purchase of new material handling equipment only to hear that your company is taking a cautious approach to investing in new equipment this year.  How are you going to stay on top of your shipment needs with the equipment you already have?

The Customer Isn't Always Right, but They're Still the Customer
Not always right I ran across this business truism and immediately recognized it as, well true.

Toyota-Lift of Minnesota spends most of its efforts working with its customers about choices in warehouse and material handling equipment as well as the condition of that equipment. We have dozens of experts from the fields of mezzanines to forklift maintenance making scores of recommendations daily. At some rate we see customer's making decisions that work against the recommendations given.

OSHA strongly encourages the use of body harnesses, but what are they really saying?

Parts Department
More Is Less, Less Is More
Part Shelves There isn't a parts counter person out here that doesn't want to tell every customer on every call "yes I have the part in stock". It's what they work for, having the right part at the right price, and having it in stock.

As long as repair parts have existed, the fight behind the scenes has been balancing the amount of inventory on hand with the demand for that inventory. Too much inventory often leads to higher prices and in many cases lag in getting new needed parts into the inventory. Too little inventory leads to poor service levels, longer delays in repairs and often expensive emergency freight costs.

Toyota Lift of Minnesota for Toyota, JLG, Prime-Mover and Taylor-Dunn parts has for decades held these standards:
