There Is A Regulation For That
From the governmentAs the warm weather season winds down, the political season is heating up.  One of the issues garnering headlines is the size and scope of government.  We all face regulatory pressures in our day to day business.  Your lift trucks are not without demanding their share of attention as of late.

Last fall we had the mandate that all new lift trucks shipped for use with load bearing clamps must come equipped with a secondary "open guard" feature.  This requires the operator to activate a button in addition to the hydraulic lever in order to release a paper roll, fork, or other type of clamping attachment.

OSHA Isn't Your Biggest Worry
Driver Training: It's The "Right" Thing, It's The Law
Forklift TraineeTraining your employees can be done "in-house", controlled and performed by one of your company's employees. Train new hires, re-certify existing drivers, perform remedial training at NO COST on your schedule.

Driver training is first and foremost our responsibility to our employee's health and well-being. Preventing injuries or even death goes beyond business sense, it is a moral responsibility.

Why Own The Cow
Surprised CowAt a recent MHEDA meeting in Chicago it seemed to a person that everyone was enjoying a boom in rental equipment. One of the largest concerns it seemed was worries over simply being able to fill the demand for equipment. After the downturn in 2008 there was some movement to reduce fleet size, and then of course when the uptick started some were caught off guard not only by the increase in demand, but by the rate of that demand.

Kaizen: Support Materials and Forms
Service Level CheckmarkKaizen, Japanese for "improvement", or "change for the better" refers to philosophy or practices that focus upon continuous improvement of processes

What could be drier than rambling on about paper work? Well certainly there are subjects out there worse, albeit paperwork isn't generally something that gets us excited.

Warehousing and Material Handling
Thank You For Visiting
Paul warehouseEarlier this year Paul Brandes, with our material handling department, was introduced to Bob Tummel and Mike Bodin with Park Precision Machining.  Bob had mentioned to Paul that he was running low for storage space in his facility. After a site visit the group decided that a storage platform would be the best solution for adding storage. Paul took some initial measurements and put together a proposal for a new platform and the project moved forward from there.

This platform was being installed in an area that already had a finished workshop.  One of the columns would need to be set through the ceiling of this workshop.  The City of Coon Rapids approved the final drawings so work could begin.  The system was installed this month and Park Precision is excited to make good use on the new space.

Thank you Bob and Mike for looking to Toyota-Lift of Minnesota for help with your warehouse project.

Our material handling department is here to help you with your next warehouse question. Please give us a call at 763-425-9066. Ask for Paul or Kari.

Personalized Inventory Review
Part ShelvesI had the opportunity this past Thursday to get out on a customer visit. This is a larger customer who for the most part performs their own maintenance, so our focus is primarily on the interactions between their parts staff and ours.

Amongst other topics, there was discussion about the performance of our parts inventory based on their calls to it. One of the nice things about parts is how exacting the system can be recording movement history. We can work with an individual customer and drill down to what they've ordered, when and how often it was ordered and if it was in stock or not when they ordered it. We can develop personalized inventory performance numbers from stock and overall and use these numbers to develop goals that can be reviewed and graded.
