Another Safety Reminder
|
There is a new ANSI requirement that forklifts with clamps manufactured after October of 2010 must have a secondary clamp release function. This subject has been approached in our newsletter before. (Insert link to that article here) Another twist to the legislation is: What happens on rental equipment? It is common for forklift dealerships to rent forklifts to customers that install their own attachments. If you are using a clamp, be sure the rental you acquire has this required feature. It will if you rent from Toyota Lift of MN. As the economy picks up and jobs are created, please remember other important safety regulations. All operators of powered industrial equipment need to be at least 18 years old and certified to run the equipment by a qualified trainer. You can get your operators and/or trainers trained at TLM.

How To Chose The Right Pallet Truck
|
| A pallet jack, also known as a pallet truck, pump truck, or jigger is a tool used to lift and move pallets. |
I've touched on getting you the right truck for your needs before, and ran across an excellent article covering the same topic but more focused in the magazine Modern Materials Handling. Knowing you probably won't see this anywhere but here, I thought I would share it with you.
From Bob Trebilcock, Executive Editor
Mark Twain once referred to golf as a good walk spoiled. The phrase could just as easily be applied to using the wrong pallet truck, or walkie, as they're often known. The right walkie can make short work for the operator moving a pallet around the dock in a distribution center or across a parking lot out in the field. Choosing the wrong machine can make that job as frustrating as a bad round of golf.

Do We Not Bleed?
In an employee engagement meeting with a technician last month the conversation turned to insights into why some customers choose smaller service agencies or independents over OE dealerships like ours. I was struck by one reason the technician gave me.
Many go with independents because we're too big.

Carte Blance For Our Techs
|
Well maybe not completely true but pretty close. For what seems like an eternity we've gone over and over with our techs their ability to mandate what they want to stock on their vans. Certainly there is a sort of base stock or template that's given them, but they are encouraged to "ask for anything" if they see it's not already in their list of parts. Read More
