Sales Department
Your Input Is Critical
The voice of the consumer rings the loudest in board rooms across the country.  As our business leaders struggle for fixes for the balance sheets for their respective companies, they must focus on what it is their customers want.  This will be especially true for me when I participate in a study for Toyota Industrial Equipment next week.

I will be asked what is most important to the continued success of our dealership.  I will be questioned on what our customers value the most.   Is it a low purchase price?  Is it the highest quality of equipment?  Are the latest ergonomic features driving the sale?  Is safety or fuel efficiency in the forefront of the minds of forklift purchasers?

I believe all of these factors are important.  My 20 year journey in the lift truck business has introduced me to all different theories on what is important to customers.  The best way to serve the customer is to ask them what is important.  This two way communication cannot happen in reverse auctions, for sale bulletin boards, or online quote request forms.

Please make a point of developing a rapport with all your suppliers.  Allowing them to truly understand your needs and requirements is best for all parties.  A good deal is defined as being beneficial to both parties.  Please do not let a single factor cause you to make a hasty decision when it comes time for capital equipment or other large purchases.
Rental Department
Responsibilities with rentals
Rental StickerThe rental managers I know and have known take a personal interest in their equipment, and fitting that equipment to your needs. Their knowledge of lift trucks, the units they have in their fleet and the availability of those units allow us and other lift truck companies around town to render the best rental service possible. These folks work hard insuring that the equipment you receive does the job you need.

There are other companies that rent forklifts, but their knowledge base is asked to range from garden equipment to tools. When you need a machine that will have the best possible impact on your productivity, stay with the specialists and stay with Toyota.

Here is a piece from Peggy Breeden at Kenco Toyota Lift telling her story at Kenco. Another nice insight into a lift truck dealership, with thanks to Peggy:

Atlas Forklift: Employee Engagement
I was going through Toyota's recent "After Market Digest" and came across
Kevin Sweet
this piece by Kevin Sweet of Atlas Lift
Truck, a fellow Toyota dealer in Chicago.

I wish I could put it as succinctly as Kevin does, but we here at Toyota-Lift of Minnesota believe in everything he says, and practice the same procedure as referenced indirectly several times in our blog. Following is Kevin's article, and I'll use it to prompt me to outline our meetings in a latter post.. Great article Kevin, well said.
