Awards In An Unprecedented Year
| The year 2009 was a very tough year for everyone. It presented challenges that were unprecedented to our customers, our company and our employees. Toyota Lift of Minnesota is very proud of the way our staff worked through that period and of the results we as a company achieved as a result of that effort. One notable affirmation was our staff receiving TMHU's President's Award. Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., Inc. (TMHU) awarded Toyota-Lift of Minnesota its highest dealership honor, the President's Award, for 2009.
Toyota-Lift of Minnesota is one of only 15 elite recipients of this distinguished award and was selected from TMHU's nationwide network of 68 dealers and 188 dealership locations.
Toyota-Lift of Minnesota was recognized at Toyota's National Dealer Meeting for demonstrating excellence in parts, service, equipment sales, customer satisfaction and overall dealership operations. This is the second time Toyota-Lift of Minnesota has been awarded the President's Award.

What Matters When Purchasing A Forklift?
Were Your Answers Featured In National Publication
|
In March Toyota Lift of Minnesota invited it's email subscribers to participate in a poll asking what's important when buying a lift truck. We were interested in seeing where the top areas of focus ranked with our readers. We were delighted when Tom Andel, a veteran writer covering the lift truck industry, took an interest in the results and published his take on it at Modern Materials Handling. Modern provides the most comprehensive coverage of the materials handling field, publishing more editorial pages annually than any other materials handling publication. Modern is the best read magazine in the field, confirmed by over 100 readership studies. We hope you'll take a moment to read his article here, and we thank all of you who participated. |

Low cost, high rewards

Often forgotten and/or under appreciated, it the task of the daily operator's inspection.
OSHA requires it under regulation 1910.178.(q), maintenance of lift trucks. This link shows an interpretive letter regarding the topic.
Have your lift truck operator or a supervisor go over the unit prior to each shift [at least daily]. The forklift cannot be put into service if a condition exists that affects safe use of the lift. Additionally of course depending on how diligent your inspector is you might also discover that you can prevent small maintenance issues from becoming larger if those are caught.
If you need inspection sheets contact us at 763-315-9288, I'd be happy to send a pad or two of them out to you.
This is a critical part of your day to day work on maintaining lift truck safety, and it is after all so simple and easy to complete.
If you call soon we'd be happy to give you a laminated OSHA Forklift Regulation poster. All part of our ongoing 2010 Forklift Safety Campaign.

Parts Department
What do you mean it's out of stock?
|
It happens to the best of us. THE customer calls, you know the one, the one our CSR fought so hard to get. All he wants is the common stuff, filters, some tune up items and a belt. Well guess what? Some or all of it is out of stock. If your lucky maybe the part is coming in on today's stock order but that matters very little when the person on the phones wants assurance that his order is filled now. How can this happen in the day and age of computers? You with your fine Min/Max system and EOQs. There are several reasons: - Unusual demand
- A bad physical count adjustment
- Parts removed from inventory without being charged out
- Even low usage, sometimes even the obvious parts do not receive enough demand for it to be beneficial to anyone that it is stocked [written for the benefit of our technicians]
Because: A recent order far exceeded the average order quantity and replenishment has yet to catch up. TLM places daily stock orders. Someone counted and reported for a part other than the actual part Technicians and parts sales staff can remove something in haste, and fail to enter the use onto a sales document We have criteria that needs to be met to have the right part in stock, sometimes that means not having too many of the wrong parts.
We work hard to insure that the part you need is here when you need it. Cycle counts, investigating inventory errors and working to reduce that error when defined, accurate inventory history, recording lost sales, and an honest application of effort monitor and react to unusual demands. All that said inventories still get depleted just when you need them. Trust us when we say the call where we have to tell you "we're out of stock" is the worst call, we'll do what we can to avoid that for all the best reasons. |
