Greetings!

Thank you for taking a moment to review our first newsletter. We hope that this and future offerings contain something you may find useful in your business.

It is our goal to provide more informational content than "sales" related material, however you'll likely find some specials here as an additional thanks for your time and support.

Rental Department
What to know, when to rent
Blog IconThere are any number of reasons a rental truck might be needed. Seasonal or unexpected demand, an emergency replacement while your unit is in the shop, or even product evaluation. [More here].

Prior to calling for a rental there are a few questions you'll need to be prepared for:

  • You must know the weight and dimensions of what you are picking up. For reasons of functionality and safety you do not want to guess this.
  • How high do you have to lift your load? You measure this in feet and inches.
  • What is the smallest aisle and doorway the unit will have to pass through?
  • Will the unit require pneumatic tires or cushion tires? Generally if it needs to go out into your parking lot or yard at any time you'll want pneumatic tires. Cushion tires are more compact and turn tighter.
  • What type of loading dock do you have? This will help us determine if delivery will be a ground drop.

Toyota Lift of Minnesota has a large selection of high quality new Toyota, Taylor-Dunn, and JLG equipment ready to fill your needs. Call Tom at 763-425-9066 and we'll give your productivity a boost today.

Static Electricity And Your Lift
Static
As an ever increasing number of printed circuit boards and replaceable "firmware" computer chips are used in today's product, we all need to be aware of the potential damage to these components that can be caused by static electricity. Static electricity can be created during normal operation of lift trucks, as well as, movement or contact between the vehicle and non-conductive materials.

An obvious step that can reduce the potential of static problems is the addition of a static strap to the lift truck. Remember however a static strap with a build up of material between the strap and the ground (i.e. dust or plastic wrap) will not function properly. Another point to remember is that a strap that has worn and no longer touches the ground is of no value for static protection. The negative effects of static electricity are greatly increased on a product that is equipped with non-marking tires.

Technicians need to take great caution when handling static sensitive components, such as printed circuit boards and replaceable firmware chips; following are a few cautions to remember:
  • Use a static discharge wrist strap around your wrist connected to a clean unpainted surface on the lift truck frame when available.
  • When transporting static sensitive components always carry and leave them in an anti static bag or box until time for installation.
  • When handling the above mentioned parts during installation or removal, never hold the component so that your skin or clothing completes a path across any exposed circuit board pin connections.
  • Always use the proper extraction tool when removing and replacing firmware chips on circuit boards.

Parts Department
Here To Work With You
Part PileIn this do it yourself world we'd like to buck that trend and ask that you allow us to work closely with you during any parts purchase.

We have a well trained and greatly experienced parts staff with all the tools they need waiting to hear from you. If you're certain of what you need work with them via phone, fax or email. You can also call and request a TLM supplied part breakdowns to help insure you get the right part the first time.

We appreciate the manner in which so many companies are handling parts information today. There is however, much concern over production dates and serial number breaks. Working closely with our staff will insure the sale goes down correctly.

You can contact our parts people via email parts@toyotaequipment.com, or visit any of our part pages and find a link to our parts contact form

GSA Brochure CoverWhen American Warehouse Systems began the campaign to promote Safety Grant Money through the Minnesota Workplace Safety Council, the acceptance of the program was slow, followed by a rapid series of improvement stories.
