Des Moines Website Art as a Career
Des Moines School Fine Arts Page

Dr. Mirium D. Alshouse, DM Art Coordinator, writes:
Art is a bright spot on the career horizon. Employment of artists between now and 2016 is projected to grow faster than other occupations. Artists and related workers are anticipated to grow by 16% overall and multi-media artists and animators are projected to grow by 26%.

Education is a projected growth area as well but "Art education" is included in the "Education" category rather than "Art" category. The largest anticipated growth in education is in the area of pre-school and kindergarten teachers.
