Your Art at Fall Conference
iaae
There are two opportunities that you will want to take advantage of at the Fall Conference/Retreat in October.
Bring art work related to the theme "Earth Connections." Be sure to label and note price if the work is for sale.
Second, bring items for the silent auction.
This year's proceeds from the Silent Auction will be donated to our supporting sister organization:
Iowa Alliance for the Arts.

AEI Member and Board Member Susan Noonan made it possible for many art teachers across the state to update their art skills this summer. And they got graduate or recertification credts. See photos of the students from across the state in those classes. here>.

Greetings!

I am beginning my tenure as Message editor with this eNewsletter to you. I hope that you will spread the word that Art Educators of Iowa is a vibrant, growing organization. We want to be of service to our members and to expand our membership, so please, pass this Message on to a fellow art teacher, art education student, or art professor.
Subscribe for your superintendent to receive the next edition, which will include more information about the Fall Conference/Retreat by going to the Message Subscribe.

If you don't have the courage to subscribe your boss, at least send him/her a note with a link to artedia.org. We hope that he/she will say, "You should belong to this organization! I think you'd better attend their Fall Retreat!"
Sincerely,

Nancy Sojka
Earth, Wind, and Fire
The Annual AEI Fall Conference is a Retreat for You
earth, wind, fireThe Fall Conference for 2007 is a Retreat at the YMCA Camp at Boone, Iowa. If you went to camp as a kid you will remember the relaxing, fun time you had. If you never were able to go to camp, now is your opportunity.
You'll learn about the Iowa Arboretum, photography, using dyes to teach about color mixing, the new AEI Art Teacher Mentoring Program, creating Ephemeral Art, what other teachers in Iowa are teaching and creating and much more.
You'll be able to take advantage of the Y Camp's facilities for horse back riding, canoeing, hot rock massage and reflexology, campfires, group cabins, and great food.

AEI Mentoring Program
"New in Town?" If you are a first year teacher, you can have an experienced ART teacher as your Mentor.
"Retiree?" If you are an experienced art teacher, you can be a Mentor to one of the 20 to 30 new art teachers in Iowa this year.
Plans have been finalized for the AEI Art Teacher Mentoring Program. Veteran art teachers (retired or just experienced) are invited to become Mentors to a new art teacher, their Mentee.
What a smart concept! Mentors will visit classrooms, observe, and provide productive feedback to beginning teachers.

Everybody wins.
