This message is for those interested in the Green School efforts in Florida. The national Green Ribbon Schools program has a February 17th deadline - this Friday. Florida-specific nomination details are below.
The Florida Green School Network is about to launch its new website. The 2012 Florida Green School Awards call for nominations will be announced next month.
This spring, Sustainable Florida is working with the Florida Department of Education and Department of Environmental Protection to develop a series of workshops at the school district level to promote the green schools movement.
To assist in this effort, I invite you to participate in this survey to help us design a program that can best serve your needs.

Feb 17th Deadline! The US Department of Education created the national Green Ribbon Schools program to recognize schools that save energy and water, reduce costs, feature environmentally sustainable learning spaces, protect health, foster wellness and offer environmental education to boost academic achievement and community engagement. The Florida Department of Education will formally nominate up to four Florida schools to compete nationally. To be eligible you must submit a nomination using this form. The deadline is February 17th. National winners will be announced during Earth Day Week in April 2012 and recognized in May 2012 during the first national U.S. DOE Green Ribbon Schools ceremony in Washington, D.C. Winning schools are anticipated to hold recognition ceremonies at the individual schools in fall 2012. Read the FLDOE Breaking News! |
