Rosmarie was one of the guest speakers in Halifax at the all-new Eco-Show.
She gave three lecture-seminars on the Main Stage - they each ran about an hour:

What is organic landscaping?

Got bugs? Build a bird feeder from simple found materials

Horticulture Therapy

rosmarie bradley leads workshopWelcome to our
extra eco e-news!

Thanks to everyone who came to visit me at our booth, hear one of my lectures and participate in the hands-on event, last weekend at the Ecologic Sustainable Lifestyle Show.

I was really pleased with the turn out, there were many folks looking for a way to be more sustainable in their lives, and I hope we were able to help out in some way. I was delighted to meet people who came back on Sunday to hear my talk and demonstration on Horticulture Therapy!

We had lots of interest in the many topics we cover and we connected with many new vendors and interest groups . . .
We have added their websites to our links page.

A very special welcome to our new subscribers! You might want to explore our newsletter library . . .

Thanks to Karen Gilmour for creating the Ecologic Show, we will be sure to be back next year, and to the show crew for all their effort at packing and loading the booths and trucks. And especially to all the HNH staff, friends, and family for their time and support during prep, build and dismantle.

Until next time - Happy Gardening!

The Road to extermination - a short history of extinction

by Antonio Cigolotti

Note: Antonio brought a piece of art & explanation to the show. Photo shows one-third of the work - he's actually standing on a chair so "The Road" doesn't touch the floor. Text is cropped as well - apologies to the artist!

art show hangingThe spiral climb represents humanity's ability to progress without care of others. The number of stairs represents a fraction of the extinct or endangered species from the last 200 years.

The colour of the roadway represents a leaf as it changes in the fall. This is nature's way of providing life at the bottom with green and gradually taking it away as it spirals upward to black. A natural and normal occurrence benefiting the global biosphere if left unopposed or even encouraged.

The printed names starting at the bottom step are names of extinct wildlife, either: animal, insect, fauna, bird or fish. This continues up to the last of the red section where we have endangered species starting in pink background. They continue on to the top, disappearing into the black as humanity continues its progress in ignorance.
