In the fall of 2005, I joined forces with the Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation as well as Bayview Community School teacher Jonathan Chaisson and his Grade 6 class. Together, we're transforming an abandoned bus-loop circle into a vibrant outdoor classroom amidst a micro Acadian Forest.

It's home to wild flowers, vegetables, trees and a riparian zone - specialized, adaptable plants live in the transition space between water and land.

The open-air classroom will be accessible through decking, ramps and a plank boardwalk which is currently under construction.

This is a large project and I'm the first to admit, we need your help! I'm sending this special e-newsletter to my clients. I know you get a great deal of pleasure in watching and helping things grow.

I hope you extend your hand to helping this young forest grow!

Early last summer, Mr. Chaisson's class at Bayview, joined Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation and Helping Nature Heal for a Baywoods Planting Day.

Amidst the hard work there was plenty of fun and at day's end a real feeling of satisfaction. It was obvious there were lots of good memories sprouted too!

Won't you be a Friend of Baywoods? If you're not keen on getting your hands dirty, here are some other ways to help:

    • Donate some plants from your garden
    • Donate some compost or manure - home grown or store bought
    • Purchase a $25 Plank for the boardwalk - your engraved name will show your support.
    • Make a larger donation of cash, supplies or services
We're delighted with the support we've generated for Baywoods. Please check out our Links page and you'll see why.
