Main Library
Green means GO at the Wellesley Free Library this summer, with reading activities for children of all ages.
Starting on July 6th, families can enjoy a wide variety of storytimes, crafts and other special programs offered by the Children's Department.
On Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m. from July 6 through August 17, bring the family for "Go Green" Drop-in Craft Activities. These programs are best for children ages 4 and up. Younger children may need help, but everyone will have a good time. Drop-in storytimes for preschoolers are offered from July 7 through August 19. BookBabies, for babies 3-36 months, meets on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and includes songs, stories and lap-sit activities.
At 10:30 a.m. on Thursday mornings children ages 3-6 with a caregiver will enjoy Summer Storytime. We will share books, songs and fun activities on a wide variety of themes. Siblings are always welcome at storytimes.
Drop in for Summer Chess on Thursday evenings July 8 through August 12. Beginner instruction starts at 6:30 p.m. Games begin at 7:00 p.m. This program is best for children 5 years and up. Youth, teen and parent helpers are always welcome!
Keep track of your summer reading with an On-line Summer Reading Logs at http://readsinma.org/Wellesley, part of Go Green at Your Library, the statewide summer reading program. It's Travel Time
| It's a fact: the Wellesley Free Library has travel guides to 98 specific countries from Argentina to Zambia. Need guides to individual cities? We've got them -- 50 international cities and 39 within the USA. Less well known areas may be covered by regional travel guides for countries, including South America, Europe, and East Africa. Other travel guides focus on National Parks, art, day-trips, walks, wildlife, museums and travel memoirs. Helpful hint: when searching for travel guides in the library catalog, use the term "guidebooks" along with the name of the country or city you are looking for. Happy travels! |
Get Away with a Playaway
 |
Summer vacations are upon us and road trip plans are in the making. Borrowing Playaways from the library to listen to while traveling will enhance your trip! An all-in-one audio book, Playaways are the size of a deck of cards. Their universal jack is compatible with standard listening accessories and all standard car adapters.
Playaways feature automatic bookmarking, choice of narration speeds and lightweight packaging that make this format extremely user-friendly. The library also circulates portable speakers for use with Playaways in your home or business. Search for the keyword Playaway in the Library catalog. Following are some of the WFL's recent acquisitions on Playaway:
