OFFICER GREETINGS!

Mike Hayashi
Greetings from Your President, Mike Hayashi

Greetings from your President, Mike Hayashi

Happy Thanksgiving!  Late by a day...or an attitude we should all embrace for more than the 4th Thursday of every November? Try this to enhance your self promotion or company's marketing plan over the next 12 months - Send a simple thank you card, extra email, pick up the phone or make an effort when face to face with people you have done business with in the past or those who have done you a favor and you want to have as a new client in 2009. This "Thanksgiving Spirit" we all share at the blessings at the table right after the turkey's been carved is a powerful tool to implement into our daily routine. A sincere expression of gratitude goes a long way and with the "Holiday Shopping Season" starting earlier every year, Thanksgiving seems to be getting forgotten and lost in between Halloween and Christmas.

Some of you are very good about doing this already, so adding a few more "I appreciate your business, loyalty, support, referrals, testimonials or assistance will be a simple addition to your day to day marketing. A few of you need to start today, so that by next month, it becomes a habit more than a chore. Good luck and thank you for taking the time to read this message and for joining us at our monthly meetings. Your attendance is greatly appreciated and key to the success of our organization in 2009.

MONEY AND THE HOLIDAYS - WHAT TO KNOW

Money and the holidays - What to knowKatheryn Morton

Happy Holiday season to all! This is the time of year when the temperature begins to cool and being outside in Arizona is an absolute joy. However, I want everyone to remember that this is the perfect time to continue to build your network. The goals of our new President, Mike Hayashi, will make this network strong and profitable for us all. However, he can not accomplish them on his own. So, here are my interpretations of the goals Mike has asked up to step up to: #1 Be a resource for others, #2 Keep growing and #3 Live a life you enjoy living.

Now that the holidays are fast approaching AND the economy in some turmoil, many of us are thinking: How can I afford to create the holiday celebration or trip of my dreams? Here are some debt elimination and cash-saving tips to help you make the most of your holidays.
1.  Use lay-away programs and give your credit cards a vacation.
2.  You or your partner/spouse get a raise, a bonus or plan on a tax return? Give yourself the best gift and use these extra funds for additional principal payments on your debt load. (Think about a special savings account that you don't ever see, like a 401K for your debt reduction!)
3.  Use your current credit card rewards points to cash in for gift certificates to give as gifts or to purchase gives.
4.  Many small business and craftsperson's are needing your business this season. Seek out more unique gifts from local artists. They will often give great deals to earn you as a customer. Don't be afraid to ask for a reduced price or be a generous soul pay their full price (it will come back around for sure!).
5. Last, but not least, ask those you are purchasing gifts for what they can really use.  Be practical - sometimes a grocery gift certificate will be much more appreciated than a new tie or kitchen bowl.

Keep in mind that the most precious gift is that of you and your time; spending quality time with friends and family, going shopping to buy nothing, enjoying the free holiday festivities in your neighborhood or city, volunteering for those in need. So, after the holidays are over and the focus gets back to "regular life," the time you spent nurturing relationships will give you a big pay-off in your business.

The American Business Women's Association has been a significant thread woven tightly in the fabric of American history.

Its unparalleled success in supporting the professional development of workingwomen has, in fact, changed women's lives, one woman at a time.

About the Founder:
Post World War II, Mr. Hilary F. Bufton, Jr., recognized the positive impact women had on the economy. On September 22, 1949, Mr. Bufton and three Kansas City businesswomen incorporated the American Business Women's Association, and the American workforce was changed forever.

"It was my feeling all women were seeking and deserved equal business opportunities," Bufton later wrote. "They had gained tremendous business knowledge during World War II, through necessity, and I felt a new organization for all businesswomen was needed.

SAVING MONEY MAY JUST NEED A SHIFT IN THINKING ...

As entrepreneurs, we think differently from those in big business so shift your thinking and save $$$$'s.
 PIG_GRAPHIC
If you are paid by the billable hour, your time is truly money. You can save money and help another business owner. Hire someone to do some things you do yourself sometimes. If you bill at $100/hour and it takes you 5 hours a month to do your lawn care, hire a landscape service for $100/month and save $400. Hire a personal concierge for $25/hour who will run your errands, pet-sit, etc.

Shift into gear and swing by the library for the latest bestseller or pick up family night movies for FREE!

Have business meetings at breakfast instead of lunch, saving $5 to $10 per meal since breakfast is the cheapest meal at most eating establishments, then brown bag your lunch and save another $15 or $20. If you know the client or colleague well enough, meet for a pedicure instead of a meal and pamper yourselves while meeting.

If you don't want to choose between buying office supplies and giving to your favorite charity, simply log onto iGive.com and register for your favorite charity; then, use the direct links to shop online and the vendor will forward a percentage of your purchase to the charity...it's a win-win.

Finally, do you love that trendy latte? Buy a single-cup coffee machine and to-go cups and make your own, saving $5 per cup, which could add up to $100 per month.

The bottom-line? By shifting your thinking, you will be surprised at how much, and how quickly, you can save money without actually having to cut out the things that are important to you and your business. Simply do them differently.
