Have you noticed, spring is in the air? Yes, it can still get quite nippy, like it is here today in NY, but we've have some temperate days too. It seems we're given a glimpse of spring, from time to time, just enough to give us hope. We were excited to prepare for our spring photo shoot, taking what was old and and putting a kinky twist on it. Also, in this month's newsletter we share with you the the fact that we're in a holding pattern on the nail tip, sisters will be sisters, Curls will be in the house, our fun with Dick and Jane, and a Khamit Kinks client returns back home after 40 years abraod. And we would like to acknowledge that this month is International Women's Month and for us, everyday is Internationals Woman's Day. I honestly believe this would be a more peaceful world, if women ruled the world!

| Nails on Hold | |
I had no idea how difficult it would be to find proficient nail technicians / artist who have the caliber of care, proficiency and dedication that I was looking for to do your special nails. It has been challenging, to say the least! At this time I have decided to put the nail services for Khamit Kinks on hold. The thing that really brought this venture to a halt was the knowledge that a high-end nail spa is opening up right next door to us at 325 Gold Street. So as it stands for now, we have the nails on hold. |

Majora Carter is in addition to being an environmental activist, is also a client of Khamit Kinks. And she has been encouraging us to carry natural hair color. We have finally made that move. Why natural color? For one it's a gentler on your hair, a process causing less damage and dryness to the hair. Natural colors cannot lighten your hair, but they can add pigment and cover gray hair safely. Not to mention they are safer for your body and the environment. It never ceases to amaze me how two people from the same family can be so different. That would describe my baby sister Linda and me. Our tastes and interests are so divergent that I often wonder how we managed growing up sharing the same bedroom? My sister is an amazing person and any time you ask her how she's doing, the answer is always so inspiring that you find yourself saying, "I'll have some of what she's having". Her motto is 'It's a choice. You can decide exactly how you feel about each moment". Although I'm chronologically the oldest, Linda's always been my bedrock.
Despite our vast differences and the fact that we live 400 miles apart, we remain closely knit. We talk everyday if not a few times a day. But when it comes to hair, Linda and I are on a different planets. I have always loved being in other people's hair since I was a child. Linda could care less about hair, hers or anyone else's. But recently she took her nonchalance in this area too far, and I had to step in and do an intervention. Here's what happened... Go Ahead and Sweat

February was not only Black History Month, it was education month here at Khamit Kink as our team received hands-on training from two of the best masters in the field -Jane Carter of Jane Carter Solutions and Dickey of Hair Rules. Both of these artists and product manufacturers are highly educated and seasoned in the hair industry. We were honored to have them come in and teach us a thing or two. Both Jane and Dickey were so open, giving and nurturing to my staff. We learned quite a bit and will be passing on these updates in our services, as it is our mission to offer you the best in hair care and quality products, as always.

Whoever said you can't go back home, didn't know the indomitable Cyndee Pettice Strandell! Cyndee is quite an inspiring Khamit Kinks client and we're delighted to share news of her musical adventures. An intrepid spirit who has made a life and built a successful career in Sweden, Cyndee returned home to the U.S. last month after living in Sweden for 40 years! Read More about Cyndee
