Keep Your Hands Off the Hair!
|
Have you ever had a complete stranger walk up to you and put
their hands in your hair, without asking?
This is a topic that Allison Keys discussed on NPR last week. You know I had to weigh in on that
one. See what I and others had to
say on this matter. Keep Your Hands Off The Hair!

Spring Cleaning
|
On the first day of this year's Spring Equinox (March 20th)
my friends joined me in a spring cleanse.
For four days we attempted to give our bodies, minds, and spirits a
boost by eating only fruit and (raw) vegetables, drinking plenty of green juice
and water, mediating and practicing yoga.
Though short, it was a great journey made special by the camaraderie of
sisterhood. If you're interested
in a spring-cleaning, it's not too late. Click here for details on what we did
and get your spring cleanse on! Spring Cleanse

Chubby Twist

Finally, I'm rocking the Chubby Twist. I do believe I have now had every style
Khamit Kinks offers, with the exception of the straight weave. (Don't hold your breath on that one.) What I love about the Chubby Twist style
is its kinky bigness. Not to
mention that even those who know me well, believe it's my own hair. For more details click here - Chubby Twist.

Transformation
(The story of journalist Jacqui Farmer) And how her Sister Locks assisted in this journey
Yes
I did!
I
did it!
I
dropped fifty pounds and lowered my blood pressure and cholesterol count!
About
a year ago in prayer and meditation, I took an accounting of the then 58-year
old me. I was almost 60 pounds overweight and taking four pills a day to
battle rising blood pressure and climbing cholesterol, diseases that ran
through both sides of my family. In fact, hypertension was cited as a
contributing cause in the early death of my father many years ago. So with my
'swinging 60s' ahead of me, I took a long hard look at how I wanted to be and
feel in this next phase of my life. I'd been getting heavier and unhealthier
with each passing year - Click here for the rest of the story and see the before and after photos.

Ode To The Aries Singers
As a child I loved to sing and imagined myself as a great
singer on stage one day. My mother
was encouraging and told me I had a beautiful voice. My sister was far more objective and assured me that I could
not sing and that I shouldn't listen to our mother on that count. Suffice it to say, I sing mostly in the
shower, in the car, everywhere except on stage. LOL! But during this astrological time of Aries, I would like to
give a shout-out to my fellow Aries sisters of song and one smooth brother-
Happy Birthday to Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin,
Mariah Carey, Ledisi and last, but not least, silky crooner, Marvin
Gaye. Next time, I'm getting on
the line where they're handing out awesome voices.
