Anu's Retrospective
Last June 2008
marked 30 years since I first began braiding hair professionally, helping to
pioneer the industry of natural hair care. That anniversary month went by without any fanfare. For some unexplainable reason, I didn't
acknowledge this milestone. I didn't celebrate, have a grand affair or a
retirement party. This year though,
I decided at the urging of my niece and protégé Zauditu, to put together a
retrospective of the many styles I've worn over the years.
It turned out to
be quite a trip down memory lane and a very satisfying experience. It wasn't just the hairstyles, but
those pics brought back memories of some of the many other important
occurrences that took place in those time-frames. I liken it to a pictorial memoir. In the end I realized that I had participated in a journey that
it seems I had to take for more reasons than one. Check out Anu's Retrospective on You Tube.
