Recognize Your Volunteers

In 2 very special ways with BVU:

1. NEW! Service Ambassadors: Nominate your volunteers who show outstanding leadership skills to be a BVU Service Ambassador. BVU's newest and completely

FREE leadership program provides individuals who are passionate about service with a leadership training and both challenges and empowers them to get their friends, family and co-workers excited about volunteering with an organization of their choice!

2. Volunteer Spotlight: Feature a volunteer or group of volunteers in BVU's monthly e-newsletter and on our website,

www.volunteercentral.net.

Recognize your volunteer's extraordinary service while inspiring others with their story!

To take advantage of one or both of these opportunities please email Dana Schwartz, BVU's Nonprofit and Volunteer Services Coordinator to learn more!

NEW! What to Expect When You're Expecting... Groups of Volunteers!
Check out BVU's newest resource for volunteer managers: The Top 10 Questions You Should Be Ready to Answer When Hosting Groups of Volunteers.  This guide is a companion to the project planning guide we share with the corporate teams of volunteers we refer to our nonprofit partners through our Days of Service Program.  So we hope that this tool will prepare you to provide your volunteers with a terrific experience that will keep them coming back for more!

View this and other tools at our Online Resource Toolkit for Volunteer Managers
You Tell Us!
We're asking nonprofit agencies to answer 3 simple questions (HERE!) about recent volunteers that have been referred to your organization by Volunteer Central.

Your answers will help us better understand our impact as it is difficult for us to capture all of the volunteerism that happens as a result of our efforts. Please take a moment to help us in this effort so that we can capture more great stories and continue to provide the best service possible to you!

Do you need volunteers?  We'd like to know what your organization is doing to celebrate the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedies. If you are need of volunteers for your projects please remember to post your project plans on www.volunteercentral.net or submit them to dschwartz@bvumaryland.org.  (Please include the following information: Project description, date/time, # of volunteers needed, location of project, coordinator contact information)

Selected projects will:

  • Be featured in BVU's August Volunteer Community Newsletter distributed to over 8000 community members
  • Have a feature on a one-pager of projects compiled to share with BVU's network, including our business members
  • Be shared with BVU's Service Ambassador candidates as potential day of service projects

The September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance is supported annually by MyGoodDeed Inc. and HandsOn Network, which together serve as co-chairs of the National Organizing Committee.  The official 9/11 National Day of Service website has some nice resources if you are looking for ideas for 9/11 lesson plans, or tips and toolkits for designing and implementing community service projects.
