Energize For Success
By cultivating positive energy, everything in life improves
Welcome back! You've probably missed seeing Energize For Success newsletter in your inbox lately. I took a "newsletter break" over the summer, but am excited to be back in touch again. I've missed connecting with you and hearing your stories.
With vacations over and the kids back in school, September is a great opportunity to re-focus on what success looks like for you and how to cultivate the positive energy to go after it. So let's get started!

Quote of the Week

Positive Energy Tip

LogoColorNoTextWho Are You When You're At Your Best?

So often our self-talk focuses on our faults: "I'm fat, I'm ugly, I'm not as smart or creative as my co-workers, I procrastinate, I can't cook, I don't deserve to get a promotion, I can't do anything right." We find it very easy to affix self-blame and criticize ourselves.

We typically get more of what we focus our attention on. So if we want to create the most inviting future we can imagine, we must shift our focus away from our weaknesses and notice instead our strengths and our positive attributes.

Some questions that I ask my clients in order to help them reconnect with what is good about themselves are:
- Who are you when you're at your very best?
- When you are really the person you were meant to be, how would you describe yourself and what are you doing?
- How would others describe you when you are at your best?
- What would it take for you to be that person more of the time?

Then I ask them to imagine that it's five years from now and they are the person that they just described. What steps did they take to become the person they are meant to be and do what they are meant to do? How did they get there?

By focusing on our best selves and the conditions (both inner and outer) that support us in our quest to be that person, we can unlock our dreams and enjoy our life. To borrow Thomas Alva Edison's quote, "If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves."

Ponder the following questions:
- Who are you when you're at your very best?
- When you are really the person you were meant to be, how would you describe yourself and what are you doing?
- How would others describe you when you are at your best?
- What would it take for you to be that person more of the time?

Then decide what actions you can take to initiate the journey to be your best self. What will you do, who can be of help, and what other resources (time, information, money, education, etc.) will you need?
Pick one action step that you are ready to commit to and get started. It's never too late to be the person you were meant to be!

I'd love to hear from you about the thoughts or desires that were stirred by this newsletter and the positive steps you are taking.
