Celebri-Dots On September 15, 2011, tens of thousands of educators and students participated in International Dot Day, an annual celebration of creativity inspired by Peter H. Reynolds' book The Dot.

To make this year's Dot Day even bigger, FableVision Ambassador Terry Shay launched a new Celebri-dots Blog. The blog will feature dots by celebrities - you can see recent submissions by authors Sharon Creech, Amy Krouse Rosenthal, and Kristin Tubb. If you know of authors, illustrators, sports personalities, or other celebrities who might be interested in creating a dot, please encourage them to visit the blog and submit!

Reynolds' I'm Here features a strong anti-bullying message and reminds us that all children - and the friendships they make - can take flight in unexpected ways. The guide was co-created with the team at the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC).

IMPROVISE

Derivation:  Improvise comes from the Latin prefix im ("not") and the root providere, meaning "foresee, provide, or prepare." To provide for the future is to prepare for it ahead of time. Similarly, to take provisions on a trip means to take things you may need, such as food and water. Do you see the root providere in both "provide" and "provisions"? In the word improvise, we must pay close attention to how the prefix im affects this root.

Definition: Improvise means "to perform or create something without prior preparation."
