We Enjoyed Meeting Our Readers at ISTE 2011
| |
Thanks to the many FableFlash readers who visited our booth at ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) in Philly, PA last week! It was a pleasure meeting you and hearing about your classrooms and schools.
There was lots of up-and-coming, tech-ish fun going on all weekend. We had a blast at the SIGTE Children's Engineering Forum, where we joined SIGTE's Mike Charles, Glen Bull of the University of Virginia, Peggy Healy Stearns, and the Fab@School team in helping educators explore digital fabrication through collaborative, hands-on projects. Educators used innovative programs and hardware, including our software in development, Fab@School Designer™. If you visited our booth, you might have caught Jeff Lipton from Cornell sharing the exciting Fab@Home 3D fabricator!
Peter H. Reynolds presented two sessions, including a hands-on workshop where he helped participants reflect on their own stories. We hope you enjoyed the conference as much as we did, and can't wait to see you again next year (if not before!).
Are you heading to any upcoming conferences? We're planning our conference schedule right now and would love to hear your suggestions! Email us your recommendations.

Words And Their Stories™ Word of the Month
|
Word of the month: Blithe
Blithe comes directly from an Old English term of the same spelling. Many other languages have a related word; for example, Old High German has blide, Old Saxon has blidhi, and Middle Dutch has blide - all meaning "joyous, happy." The first record of blithe in English appeared in the epic poem Beowulf around 700 A.D. In this poem, blithe means "bright; beautiful."
Now you know that blithe means "carefree and lighthearted; nonchalant."
