Update on The Live Wire Learning Community Project
In the spring, we announced the launch of Boston's Live Wire Learning Community Project. The project, emerging from a partnership between Boston Public Schools, Boston Public Library, Boston Center for Youth and Families, and FableVision, seeks to connect traditional "silos of learning" (schools, libraries, community centers, and homes) to accelerate learning and skill development for students. Since our last article, the students at the Dorchester/Franklin Field launch site have been up to some pretty cool stuff using the software donated by FableVision Learning! Visit our blog to hear educators and students talk about the project.

Live Wire Contest FlyerAnd to all our educator friends in the Boston Public Schools: We hope last month's article on the Live Wire Digital Storytelling Contest piqued your interest. You'll find more details on the contest, open to all Boston Public School students, in the official flyer. The January 15th deadline is fast approaching! (Tip: You might want to let students explore Animation-ish to create their animated clips - there's a free trial available online.)
FREE SmartMoves™ Home Edition DVD With Every
Shippable Order Over $35

We've been hearing from happy customers who are enjoying the free SmartMoves Home Edition DVDs they received with their purchases. Featuring body puzzles that reduce stress and improve focus, SmartMoves is great to have on hand during this busy time of year. You can break out this fun activity to help your whole family focus and relax - even in the midst of holiday chaos!

Families Practicing SmartMoves

Now through year's end (while supplies last), every shippable order over $35 will include a free SmartMoves Home Edition DVD. We're making room for new products, and we've been so busy promoting the SmartMoves Classroom Edition that we overlooked our remaining stock of the Home Edition DVDs. We discontinued selling the Home Edition, but we know these wonderful DVDs deserve to be enjoyed. We're thrilled to send them to our customers as a gesture of our thanks!

The SmartMoves Classroom Edition is used in schools around the world to help children and adults improve their focus, attention, and retention. Winner of a Parents' Choice Gold Award, the Home Edition features the same "body puzzles for the mind," but includes fewer puzzles (at three levels of difficulty, rather than five).

This offer does not apply to download-only orders. Questions? Call 888-240-3734 or email us today. To place an order now, visit our online store.
Rock Our World REALLY Rocked
November's Rock Our World In"TOON"ational was a blast!  Our own Nicole O'Brien Maher joined founder Carol Anne McGuire for this unique program, which allows kids around the globe to connect and collaborate via iChat. Participating students explored music, animation, and movie-making. The session was kicked off with a message from Peter H. Reynolds. Willow Smith, up and coming music star and the daughter of actor Will Smith, also took part. To view the fabulous peace-themed films students created using Animation-ish and GarageBand, check out the posted recording.

Words And Their Stories: Word of the Month

Harmony

Did you know that harmony originally was a carpenter's term? Harmony comes from the Greek harmozein, which means "to fit together," and harmos, which means "joint." Today, the meaning of harmony goes beyond the carpenter's bench to describe the activities of many social settings. Can people "join" or "fit together" the same way pieces of wood join together when a carpenter builds something?

Now you know that harmony means "the grouping or playing of music together; agreement in feeling; unity."
