FableFriends,
As the doors open on a new learning adventure, I'm sending you this newsletter filled with ingredients to encourage you and your students. Kids are naturally hungry for learning, so we have included a sprinkling of creativity, a pinch of exploration, and a dash of inspiration. If I could, I would send you the recipe for a stellar year. I would handwrite it, splash it with watercolor, and mail it to you! However, we know that the recipe for a great year is different for every teacher and student. I hope you find one special flavor in this newsletter to make your year special! Speaking of handwritten notes, you might know that Stationery Studio® encourages writing at the computer. Did you know that it also supports writing away from the computer - by hand? For our elementary teacher pals, we've got a free downloadable "Back to School" Stationery Studio activity PDF for you. (For best results, please view the PDF in Adobe Reader). Although you don't need the software to use our adapted activity PDF, you can learn more about this great writing tool in our user-friendly digital catalog. See what we've got that can help you have the best year ever!
On that note, and on behalf of our incredible team here at FableVision Learning, we wish you an innovative and creative new school year.

Peter (and Paul & your FableVision Learning friends)

Rock Our World InTOONational Program: Applications Due September 10 |
|
Award-winning educator Carol Anne McGuire is the founder and "Lead Rocker" of a very Fable-icious international project called Rock Our World (ROW). ROW connects students on every continent to collaborate in music composition and film-making, allowing those students to meet each other in live video conferences. This season, classes participating in ROW will create an animated short movie (tip: Animation-ish is a great tool for this project!) on one solution to creating peace on our planet. FableVision's own Peter H. Reynolds will help the cause by teaching the International Team (comprised of participating classes) the art of animation. To submit your class for selection for the International Team, you must apply online and mail release forms. Applications are due September 10. Learn more about the competition and the project here.

Words And Their Stories™: Word of the Month
| Dynamic
Dynamic came to us from the Greek terms dunamis, which means "power and strength," and dunasthai, meaning "to be able." The French use dynamique to mean "energetic and forceful." Clearly, dynamic is a very active and powerful word.
Now you know that dynamic means "under constant change, activity, or progress; full of energy; a mood, attitude, or style of personality that causes change or progress."
Help your grades 5-12 students learn the stories behind words. Check out a FREE trial of Words And Their Stories (formerly Get A Clue), our award-winning web-based vocabulary program.
