FableFriends,
Peter here - again. Yep, that means another month has flown by! I need to re-read my book So Few of Me to help me slow down and relax.
You're probably busy as well with another school year wrapping up! We hope that 2009/2010 was a great one.
We've been working on lots of new posters (2 more free ones in this issue!) and products. I'm thrilled that we're now publishing my old pal David J. Smith's innovative geography curriculum, Mapping the World by Heart™. I've been busy with our new "story-sharing" program, Big Screen Books™, as well as visiting lots of schools and keynoting. I'll be packin' my bags for ISTE next month, so perhaps I'll see many of you there? Drop me a line and let me know what you're doing - would love to hear from you!
Wishing you a creative journey,
(and Paul & the FableVision Learning Team)
. . . . .

P.S. Many of you forwarded our last FableFlash to colleagues and friends - thank you for helping us grow. Scroll down to find out who our contest winners are! |
New Words And Their Stories™ Poster: Fable
|
| Guess what we love at FableVision Learning? FABLES! A fable is a fictional tale used to teach. Similarly, our powerful web-based vocabulary program, Words And Their Stories (formerly Get A ClueŽ), uses REAL stories to teach students the meaning behind words.
We hope you enjoy this downloadable poster by Peter H. Reynolds, which features just one of the thousands of words in this innovative product. Please contact us with any questions you might have about integrating Words And Their Stories into your curriculum. We are also available to do a custom webinar for you and your team. Great Grant Opportunities for Educators |
| We have taken our own advice on applying for a grant! FableVision Learning entered the MacArthur Digital Media and Learning Competition and has been selected as a finalist from more than a thousand entries! We, along with the University of Virginia and other collaborators such as the Cornell School of Engineering and the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE), teamed up to design the Fab@School Lab - a digital fabrication laboratory for the classroom. Digital fabrication involves translation of a digital design into a physical object. Finalists had to create a 3 minute video for the final round of judging - view the Fab@School finalist video and learn more about the power of digital fabrication here.
Many educators have expressed their gratitude for our monthly listing of grant opportunities. Once again we have gathered new funding opportunities for you - download our new PDF here. (For best results, we recommend saving the PDF to your desktop and viewing it in Adobe Reader.) |

FableVision Learning Blog Updated | | Check out our latest blog post - students use Animation-ish and Stationery Studio to show what they know about the law of magnetic attraction. These engaging, flexible tools tap into students' interests, challenge them appropriately, motivate them to learn, and provide them with different ways to demonstrate their knowledge. Their versatility makes these programs an ideal match for the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) curriculum. UDL is an educational framework that recognizes that each student learns differently - something that we at FableVision Learning strongly agree with! Learn more about UDL here. |
