February 2010
Hi FableFriendsHi FableFriends,

Has it been a month already? You know the saying, "Time flies... " - and we are - having fun! Our wish for all kids is that they end up with a job where they "do what they love and love what they do." Having a sense of mission, a sense of purpose, is a huge part of that. One person who lived that way is one of my heroes: Ted Sizer, who passed away last year. He was the founder of the Coalition of Essential Schools. In his honor, our word of the month is "coalesce." (Check out the free poster to see where the word is derived from.)

So, enjoy this issue. We have so much to share! Seems things are speeding up here at FableVision Learning - which is a good sign. We think it means that creativity and innovation are making good headway - hand in hand with teaching kids the core skills that will allow them to succeed on the journey. So enjoy our monthly freebies, like our grants PDF, our new catalog PDF, and TWO free posters! Till next month!

Onward,

 Peter's signature

(and the FableVision Learning team)

GET A CLUE® Spotlight Word of the Month

Coalesce

Coalesce is derived from the Latin word coalescere, meaning "to grow together." The prefix co means "together," while alescere means "to grow up" and comes from alere, "to nourish." A word related to the modern English verb coalesce is the noun coalition, which describes people who have "grown together" for a specific, and often political, purpose.

Help your grades 5-12 students learn the stories behind the words.  To get your FREE trial  of GET A CLUE, our award-winning web-based vocabulary program, click here.
