November 2009
Dear Friends,Freedom to Dream

November is the month that celebrates our appreciation of life and the gifts we've been given. OUR gift is YOU. Thank you for "connecting the dots" with us to move the mission of creativity and innovation forward! I've included a special poster to remind all of us to keep dreaming of the possibilities.

We're never far away. Open one of my books and I'm there with you and your students. Fire up our software - I'm there with you in your classroom. Connect and share on our Blog, FaceBook page, or Twitter. We've got some great things to share with you in this issue.

We're with you every step of the way.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Peter

What Makes Your Classroom Wonderful?
(Drawing for Free Software)
Wonderful ClassroomWhat is a "Wonderful Classroom"? It's a place that helps all learners reach their true potential. . . where every student is engaged, and collaboration and creative thinking are encouraged.

We're writing a book called The Wonderful Classroom, designed to help educators create a 21st Century teaching and learning environment. Illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds, the book will include a library of practical tips that teachers can apply immediately to build on what works well today.

Would you like to help? Please click here to share tips, strategies, and examples from your "wonderful classroom." We welcome input from you and your students! All submissions will be entered into a free drawing for a five-computer license of Animation-ish, Stationery Studio, OR SmartMoves. Click here for more information.

Animations from Creativity & Innovation Retreat

In October we hosted the MassCUE pre-conference event, offering a creativity retreat with Peter H. Reynolds. The professional development workshop focused on integrating high-tech and low-tech creativity tools and strategies into the classroom. Participants created great public service announcements (PSAs) using Animation-ish, our award-winning animation software.

New Book by Peter H. Reynolds

Rose's Garden Book CoverA fable for all ages,
Rose's Garden was inspired by the resilient spirit of Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy and the Greenway park in Boston that now bears her name.

"My mother's resilience and faith inspired and nourished our family all her life. She taught each of us to persevere, no matter how great the challenges, and to do all we could to care for others. Peter H. Reynolds poignantly captures my mother's enduring spirit in ROSE'S GARDEN. May this powerful story and my mother's beautiful greenway plant fresh seeds of hope and service for generations to come."
- Senator Edward M. Kennedy

Harmony

Harmony - Did you know that harmony originally was a carpenter's term? Harmony comes from the Greek harmozein, which means "to fit together," and harmos, which means "joint." Today, the meaning of harmony goes beyond the carpenter's bench to describe the activities of many social settings. Can people "join" or "fit together" the same way pieces of wood join together when a carpenter builds something?
