Save the Date! Arizona Gives Day will be March 20, 2013 In March 2013, the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits and Arizona Grantmakers Forum (AGF) are doing something never done statewide in Arizona. We're taking one day to harness the power of individual contributions statewide, using the power of online giving, connecting new and existing investors with thousands of Arizona nonprofits. How It Works
On March 20, 2013, Arizonans will be asked to go online to a website dedicated to this statewide campaign, find the nonprofit which delivers a mission related to their passions, and make a contribution directly to that nonprofit. Individuals will hear about this website through a wide-ranging media effort, including television, radio, billboards, newspapers, online advertising and social media. Each nonprofit has a page dedicated to telling its story, with video, a link to its website and a focus on its impact in the community. People will also be able to search for organizations based upon issues or geography.
How You Can Help
A number of AGF members acting as a collaborative support team, have agreed to provide funding to cover the estimated $150,000 in administrative expenses of this effort. While we are close to our goal, we welcome any additional support.
We are also actively seeking major investors to fill the $200,000 incentive pool, which will be used as prize money to reward those nonprofits which are most successful in raising the most new donors and/or dollars. Major sponsors of Arizona Gives Day will receive maximum visibility via a comprehensive marketing strategy that involves prominent website placement, TV, radio and print media coverage and extensive social media buzz generated by every nonprofit that is promoting their programs/services. If your organization is interested in learning more about this unique sponsorship opportunity, or if you have ideas of who might be interested, please contact Marissa.
AGF welcomes two new members
Please join us in welcoming the Herberger Foundation and 3TV to AGF. The Herberger Foundation is a small, private foundation based in Scottsdale, focusing on Arizona arts and children. 3TV, CW6, and azfamily.com's community philosophy is one of innovation and collaboration driven by the passion to build stronger communities across the state. Though the station's principal community focus is somewhat broad they remain committed to programs that serve key areas including education, human services, and overall public benefit.

Name: Cheryl Ruggiero
Birthplace: Yakima, Washington
Family: Married 29 years to Larry
Samantha - 23 years old
Nicole - 18 years old
First or most interesting job:
My first job was at a fruit & vegetable stand in Yakima Valley (known for their apples, cherries, apricots, peaches, corn, okra...I could go on and on) - it was the best summer job.
Hobbies/Favorite pastime:
Reading, hanging with the family, hiking/walking
Your Path to Philanthropy:
Not sure if it was growing up being a girl scout, being my daughters girl scout leader or the generosity that my mother always demonstrated to the community. All through my professional careers, I have been the one in charge of the employee volunteer activities or clubs and connecting people to each other. Becoming part of the Thunderbird group and being able to connect to our community, has truly been a gift.
Current Position:
I wear a couple of hats in the Thunderbird organization, who are the hosts of the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Throughout the year, I oversee all the charitable giving that is done through the organization. During "Open" season it is all hands on deck and specifically I oversee the WMPO Tee Off Luncheon and the WMPO Opening Night Party.

"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
