For nearly 50 years, the Arizona Town Hall has convened individuals of diverse perspectives to deal with the important issues of the state's viability and livability.
Arizona Grantmakers Forum is proud to partner with the Arizona Town Hall and more than 20 other community organizations for the September 13, 2012 Forum on Civic Engagement. The evening is set up to be an action-inspired community conversation covering the following issue areas from the 100th Town Hall: Education & Civics; Political Systems; Civil Discourse; and Individual Action. Ear Candy plans to expand its reach
Ear Candy, a local Tempe charity, has announced it will expand its services from the Phoenix area to statewide on Sept. 17, and with its eye on a national expansion the nonprofit is hoping to raise $25,000 by mid-September. Read more.
Phoenix metro ranks 22nd in U.S. for charitable giving
In a study released last week, the Chronicle of Philanthropy ranked the Valley No. 22 among the country's 50 most generous metropolitan areas. The Washington, D.C.-based publication compared Internal Revenue Service giving figures for 2008 with those reported in 1997. The Valley ranked No. 39 in 1997. The median contribution of Valley residents is $2,445 a year , according to the report. The median percentage given by Valley residents is 4.6 percent...Read the full article.
 Sun Health Community Education presents health talks The Sun Health Community Education Series presents free ongoing health and wellness programs on a variety of health care, healthy living and personal and financial safety topics focused on seniors. Events occur several times each month at locations across the west valley and are presented as a community service. This month we are partnering with AARP for a low-cost drivers safety course, with all funds paid directly to AARP. The featured topic in September will be Heart Health. To find out more or to register, please click here. Next Generation Philanthropists Travel to Agua Prieta  Just across the border from Douglas, Arizona is the city of Agua Prieta, Sonora. The streets are dirty, the homeless dogs are prolific, and the poverty is obvious. Next Generation Philanthropists leads a service trip to Agua Prieta once a year. Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation Starts 2013 Community Grants Cycle
Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation is pleased to announce the start of the 2013 Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation Community Grants Cycle, providing grants to organizations helping to improve the oral health of Arizonans, with proposals for this cycle due November 15, 2012. Tucson Osteopathic Medical Foundation to Give Microgrants
The Tucson Osteopathic Medical Foundation is re-launching the Trustee Awards, a microgrant program that will give $1,000 each month to a different non-profit organization working to improve community health. To read more about this program, click here.
LISC Phoenix celebrates 20 years
LISC Phoenix commemorates two decades as a leading organization dedicated to revitalizing and sustaining Arizona communities. The highlight of the year will be the 20th Anniversary Breakfast and Community Awards on November 15, 2012, at the SRP PERA Club. Former Phoenix Suns player, and LISC national board member, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson has been invited to deliver the keynote address. This 20th Anniversary event will enable LISC to celebrate their shared worked and raise awareness of its importance to members of state and local policymakers; business and foundation leaders; and the community.
