Jillian Jones of Cox Communications and her husband recently welcomed Clark Robert Jones into their family. 

 

He was born at 12:10 am on Sat. Feb. 11. He was 7.2 lbs and 20 inches long. Everyone is doing great!

Arizona's 211 Program Struggles for Funding
Arizona's 211 program launched in October of 2011. This 24/7 service line provides callers referrals to social service organizations. Arizona 211 takes over 800 calls a day, and defer many non-emergency calls from the 911. They seek funding from individuals and organizations to expand their service. Read more. 
 

 

Job Opening: Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona After a two month search process the Board of Directors of the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona made the decision to begin another search for a full time Executive Director. The position description is attached and salary range is $55,000-65,000 DOE. The position will be open until filled, but resumes will be reviewed on an ongoing basis. Nonprofit Job Growth Report from Johns Hopkins
A new report from the Nonprofit Economic Data Project from the Johns Hopkins University Center for Civil Society Studies shows that despite years of strong job growth in the nonprofit sector, they still lost market share compared to for-profits. The Arizona Community Foundation seeks volunteers to serve on selection committees for a number of scholarships open to students from diverse backgrounds in the 2012 scholarship season.  Opportunities are available to students throughout the United States for studies at the Community College, Undergraduate and Graduate levels. ACF is the largest private provider of scholarships in Arizona, awarding more than $4 million annually to hundreds of students to help them achieve their educational goals.

The Arizona Bioscience Report commissioned by the Flinn Foundation shows the sustained significant growth the bioscience sector in Arizona has seen compared to the sector as a whole, despite recent economic trends. This annual study is conducted by the Battelle Technology Partnership Practice and commissioned by the Flinn Foundation. One summary, available here, include statistics on the growth of bioscience firms, venture-capital funding, and Arizona universities effects on the sector. 

   

The US Airways Community Foundation seeks 501 (C)(3) applicants in the major metropolitan areas of Charlotte, N.C.; Phoenix; Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Nonprofit organizations may receive grants up to $250,000 for formalized capital campaigns related to new building construction or major renovation/expansion of an existing facility. Interested nonprofit organizations should visit the US Airways site and click Request Funding, under the US Airways Community Foundation section, to review the complete guidelines and submit an electronic application.  The application deadline is Sunday April 1, 2012 and awards will be distributed in June 2012. 

   

Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust Establishes Literacy Director for Arizona to coordinate and enhance early childhood literacy programs in the state. The literacy director will work in collaboration with the Arizona Department of Education, Arizona Head Start Collaboration Office, First Things First, among others to lead state literacy efforts. This position is a part of the Trust's "Read On" initiative. More information about this statewide initiative, the Literacy Director position and how to apply can be found here.
