Greetings!
Happy birthday NPEDC!
On August 16, 2011 the North Port Economic Development Corporation corporate papers were filed with the state of Florida, and our historic timeline began. On October 4, 2011 we had our first Board of Directors meetings followed on November 7 with our first Advisory Board meeting. And here we are, one year later and a lot to be proud of, including
- Successful Opportunity Acquisition process that started a new business in town with no government money (School of Opportunity)
- Four ACTION initiatives that will generate a combined construction budget in excess of $150 million
- Hosted a successful community discussion featuring state and local business and government leaders
- 47 investors who believe in our vision and collectively fund all of this good work (We receive no government funding)
All this and we are just 1 year old. WOW! How do we top that?
The answer is simple. We start with a vision and then work with those that share the vision and can contribute to its fulfillment.
It's time to share with the community our vision and our plans to create catalysts that ensure economic metabolism.

ACTION Initiative Spotlight
The NPEDC is actively pursuing four ACTION Initiatives (Active Collaboration That Inspires Opportunity Now) that are designed to create economic catalysts that stimulates economic metabolism. Outlined below are some of the potential outcomes of these initiatives. Medical Hub
Can North Port lead the way as a medical city of the future? Members of a North Port Economic Development Initiative Team believe it can. The team comprised of medical professionals, architects, construction companies, planners, and citizens have been working diligently over the past ten months and have come up with a vision that would create a center that would include over 1.5 million square feet of medical, education and business office space.
Eco-tourism Hub One of our ACTION Initiative teams is actively working to bring ecotourism to North Port. Can you imagine eco lodges that embrace nature and offer family vacations that include horseback riding, nature tours, botanical gardens, wildlife tours, mountain bike adventures and more? The vision of this group of citizens, construction companies, architects and environmentalists are actively developing a plan.
Education Hub
A North Port EDC ACTION Initiative team is actively working to bring a mixed use of educational resources to North Port including a university center, a center for creative retirement, a culinary institute, and more to North Port. The team is speaking with local, regional and national colleges and universities about the potential and are close to making some announcements
