The Economic Driver

January 20,  2011

A publication of the North Port Economic Development Corporation

Greetings!

The new year finds the North Port EDC growing its membership and continuing to define its role.  We will be welcoming some new members to the Advisory Board at its second meeting on February 7th and voting on several additions to the Board of Directors later that same day.

We're enthusiastic about the potential for the North Port EDC and welcome others to join in support of the efforts being made to promote economic development in North Port.  Those efforts include facilitating projects developed by the North Port EDC, connecting economic development prospects with community resources, advocating for economic development to the city, and referring business leads to the City of North Port's Economic Development Division.

We welcome you to visit the website at www.NorthPortEDC.com frequently as it is updated with news, resources, and NPEDC activities which will soon include a date for the next Community Discussion to continue the conversation begun at the first one held in November.

Have a great day

Future of Warm Mineral Springs to be decided. The City of North Port and the Sarasota County have been working together to develop a plan for Warm Mineral Springs, and the public is invited to give their input. The bottom line is the Springs will either be a park, an economic engine for our city, or a combination of both. Your input matters, so plan on attending one of the planned meetings and let your voice be heard. For more information visit the Sarasota County site on Warm Mineral Springs.

Views & News is a new addition to our website. It is designed to be an aid to those interested in learning more  about economic development and resources in our region. Look for updates to the website in this section of the newsletter.

While the government is responsible for economic development, it is the private sector that makes economic development happen, and the North Port EDC will focus its efforts on working with both the public, civic, and private sectors to create economic engines and catalysts for economic development.

The North Port Economic Development Corporation is privately funded.
