REDLANDS PASSENGER RAIL PROJECT SCOPING MEETINGS

San Bernardino Associated Governments will host two public scoping meetings on the Redlands Passenger Rail Project on Tuesday, September 25 and Thursday, September 27, 2012.

Based on the input received from the community, including written comment letters, and preliminary findings from ongoing technical studies, the Federal Transit Administration determined that an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) will be required to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act. The filing of a Notice of Intent (NOI) on July 31, 2012 is the first formal step in preparing an EIS similar to the filing of the Notice of Preparation (NOP) for the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) filed under the California Environmental Quality Act in April 2012.

Team members will present the latest information on the proposed new passenger rail service between the City of San Bernardino and the University of Redlands. These scoping meetings will provide an opportunity for the public and interested parties to offer comments and ask questions on the project and its potential environmental impacts. The public review period that began on July 31, 2012 has been extended to October 11, 2012.

Displays illustrating key parts of the projects will be available to review. A presentation will be made to provide information on project features, schedule, and scoping and environmental review process of the Redlands Passenger Rail Project. An opportunity for informal public comments will follow the presentation.

If unable to attend the meetings, scoping information is available at http://sanbag.ca.gov/projects/redlands-transit.htmlby sending an email to RPRP_Public_Comments@sanbag.ca.gov or by calling Jane Dreher, Public Information Officer for SANBAG, at (909) 884-8276.
