Solas Nua is giving away books by Irish authors today. In addition to giving away Irish contemporary literature at Metro stops around the city, this year Solas Nua is partnering with the D.C. Public Library's Adult Literacy Resource Center and D.C. Library Renaissance to give books to literacy groups.

 

Congratulations to Solas Nua, all the volunteers and organisations involved, on a great event.

Keegan's 16th season opens on 21st September with A Couple of Blaguards, featuring actors Robert Leembruggen and Keegan company member Timothy Lynch.

CCÉ Irish Folk Festival

The 17th annual CCÉ Irish Folk Festival will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from Noon -7pm. Highlights include performances from traditional Irish fiddle players direct from County Donegal, Ireland. 

 

The festival is sponsored by the CCÉ O'Neill Malcom Branch with support from the Fairfax City Commission on the Arts. There will be live traditional Irish music & dance at both the Sherwood Community Center at Van Dyck Park, 3740 Old Lee Highway, Fairfax, VA 22030 and The Auld Shebeen Irish Pub, 3971 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.

 

Admission is free! Rain or shine.

Euronight!

   

For the fifth year in a row, the European embassies in Washington, D.C. are proud to present "Euro Night!" On Friday, September 28th from 6:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. La Maison Française at the Embassy of France will host the 2012 edition, featuring more than 20 European Union embassies, each showcasing its respective culture, traditions and culinary specialties. Throughout the evening, enjoy live music while taking a tour around Europe, feasting on national dishes and drinks from the open bars - A great way to discover European traditions!
