Solas Nua's Irish Book Day 2012
Solas Nua is doing it again-giving away books by Irish authors on 17th September, from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. and needs your help. "Irish Book Day: Another craic* at St. Patrick's Day" is being held this year halfway to the day most closely associated with Ireland in the United States-St. Patrick's Day.
In addition to giving away Irish contemporary literature at Metro stops around the city, this year Solas Nua is partnering with the D.C. Public Library's Adult Literacy Resource Center and D.C. Library Renaissance to give books to literacy groups.
Call for volunteers
On and before 17th September, Solas Nua will need volunteers to distribute books at sites around the city, including the Martin Luther King Memorial Library Adult Literacy Center, Dupont Circle and Gallery Place Metro stops. We will also need volunteers with cars to help supply books to volunteers. We could also use a hand with preparing the books before Sept. 17. So if you are interested in spreading the word about contemporary Irish literature and the joy of reading in general, get in touch and let us know when you might be available and how to get in touch with you at:
