CCÉ Potomac promotes its Musical Arts and Dance (MAD) Week

 

CCÉ Potomac is performing at the Summer Camp Expo at the White Flint Mall on 29th and 30th January.

 

The performance is to promote the annual CCÉ Musical Arts and Dance Week, which takes place this year on 18th-22nd July in Bethesda. 

 

MAD Week includes classes in traditional Irish music and dance for children, teens and adults. Further information is available from

Catch an exhibition of paintings of Ireland by American artist Kim Abraham, a Fellow of the Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Co. Mayo.  It runs until the end of the month at the Alex Gallery, 2106 R Street, NW, Washington DC. Further information is here.

Charming Billy on stage at the Roundhouse Theatre

 

Roundhouse Theatre presents Blake Robison's stage adaption of Charming Billy, the acclaimed novel by Bethesda's Alice McDermott, a National Book Award winner. The play runs from 2-20 February.  Further information is available here.  

Two poetry readings

 

Visiting Irish poets Paul Perry and Siobhan Campbell are among the line-up at the Poetry Event at Busboys and Poets (5th and K), Washington DC, Wednesday 2nd February, 9pm, hosted by Holly Bass.

 

Paul Perry is the author and editor of a number of critically acclaimed books including his most recent collection of poetry The Last Falcon and Small Ordinance (Dedalus Press, 2010), described by Dermot Bolger as 'the work of a singular imagination.'Sunday Business Post

 

Siobhan Campbell is an award-winning poet anthologised in Identity Parade (Bloodaxe) and in the Forward Book of Poems 2011. Her new collection is Cross-Talk, (Seren Books UK/IPG in the US): 'a cunning sideways take on the pastoral' Irish Times; 'torpedoes lined with feather strokes', Bernard O'Donoghue.
