EDTS Makes Inc 5000 Fastest-Growing... Again

Inc 5000 logoEDTS rose 883 places to #2562 on the 2012 Inc. 5000 list of America's Fastest-Growing Private Companies, the third straight year the firm has made the coveted list. EDTS ranks highly among IT Service providers - historically the fastest-growing segment. Measuring revenue growth from 2008-2011, companies must be U.S. based and privately held, independent and meet minimum revenue levels.   The magazine surveys private America's independent businesses to take a comprehensive snapshot of that critical part of the economy; past honorees have included Microsoft, Under Armour, Visa, Intuit, Timberland, Publix, and Zappos.com.  Thank you!

Security In The Cloud
IT securityWhile cloud computing appeals to many companies seeking lower overhead, improved productivity and enhanced accessibility, the cloud presents other issues related to data security.

Since the cloud is designed to provide more user access both within and outside customary connectivity parameters, special care must be taken to ensure the security of your cloud environments and implementations. When considering cloud computing, consider protection for the potentially insecure remote access it provides and the business-critical processes taking place.  Be sure that:

  • IT security is up-to-date and flexible - Cloud-based solutions can support regulatory compliance, optimized hardware and software solutions, and proactive security against known vulnerabilities. Provide team training to ensure security is maintained.
  •  Use Integrated Security Measures - Services being ported to the cloud should be organized based on security level, traffic volume and data type, allowing system administrators to proactively identify security risks before they can enter or access your systems.
  • Ensure Secure Customer Access - While allowing customers to access their data via your cloud-based business resources can be attractive, it is also a potential security risk. Don't let malicious software infiltrate your data infrastructure; instead, provide defense-in-depth and IT support to prevent potential breaches.
While integrating the cloud can bring wonderful benefits to the table, don't ignore the accompanying security implications.

Viva Virtualization!

VirtualizationAll businesses today have common IT challenges -- demand for new capabilities, desire for cost savings, the need to protect critical systems and data. For businesses with significant IT requirements, virtualization may offer big dividends.

Virtualization simplifies IT for companies by utilizing the complete capacity of their storage and network computing resources, speeding response and controlling costs. And instead of isolating important programs on separate servers, businesses can run many applications on the same server with a high degree of safety.

Users see resources they need to see, while administrators efficiently manage and optimize resources according to specific applications and to business areas of highest priority. And virtualization solutions can help your organization to optimize existing IT assets and resources cost effectively while protecting all data, systems and applications that run your business.  Consider virtualization's potential benefits:

Reduce cost -- lower hardware spending by consolidating and improving utilization of servers; less to buy, power and manage

Improve productivity -- move your IT team from menial tasks to strategic roles

Enhance security -- automated patch management and integrated firewalls maintain security policies

Better application deployment -- test and optimize applications for less downtime

Improve business continuity -- with complete data protection, continuous application availability and automated disaster recovery

Increase responsiveness -- improve efficiency, flexibility and responsiveness by quickly connecting and managing resources for changing needs.
